A quick overview of the supposed history of Oak Island. This video goes over the history of Oak Island from the first reports of findings to the current excavations going on. Although the creator does not give any type of critical thinking to this video, it is a good starting point for people just looking into this topic. The narrator does include some Bias into his narration with the information he is giving as for example when he is speaking about The pirate Captain Kidd, he speaks of what skeptics believe and why they believe it, meanwhile only briefly touches on the idea of Captain Kidd, which shows his bias towards believing the skeptics on that subject.

This video covers the topic of Smiths Cove, and as to why it may be a man made. There is much speculation and talk about Smiths Cove being man made as it does not conform to the islands natural topography, along with the box drains which were constructed underneath the cove, using materials not native to Nova Scotia or the surrounding area. The issue's with the narrator's idea would come from patternicity, and perception/observation. The narrator has found a pattern while observing maps and other old settlements found in historical documents. The issue that arises from this way of thinking is that Smiths Cove has been excavated multiple times, and with the Atlantic Ocean also changing its features year to year, we cannot directly connect oyster bays to Smiths cove, as the video continues on, it talks about the box drains under Smiths Cove, which while using critical thinking would help disprove the video's original theory of a man made oyster bay.

This video covering Nolan's cross attempts to show how the cross correlates to other locations in the world which are also linked to the Knight's Templar. Although the narrator has used some technology and attempted to best place the cross onto google maps, he has not used critical thinking to fully understand how Nolan's cross could possibly be a natural phenomenon. He has fallen prey to Patternicity, as when the Knight's Templar possibly created the cross, they could not have taken into consideration the curvature of the earth as Google maps does and they would have placed to cross on a direct path towards the Island he mentions in the video. Also to be pointing exactly at the island is very unlikely as with the technology available to them at the time, there could be no way that it would be perfectly aimed at the island. There is also the fact that it is not known if possibly rocks have been moved, or removed completely which could change the entire cross to depict something else, as the island was used for farming and rocks could have possibly been removed because of their location in a field.

The box drains located in Smith's Cove are the entrance tunnels believed to be created for the booby traps located on Oak Island. These tunnels allow ocean water to enter into the island and flood tunnels which are created while attempting to find the true Money Pit and location of the supposedly buried treasure. To date, there have been excavations done in Smiths Cove which discovered that indeed there have been man made drains created, and have been well constructed to stand the test of time, by using coconut fibers and eel grass to protect the drains from ever being blocked by sediment. There is no record of these being created, or the reason for them, which has driven the thought that they are protecting the treasure supposedly located on Oak Island. These assumptions about the reason for these box drains could be linked to confirmation Bias, as people believe that they were created for the one reason of the treasure, when there are also other options such as the oyster farm theory, or possible other option that could explain the purpose of the construction.

This picture is an ariel view of the swamp located in the middle of Oak Island. Many people believe that the swamp is man made and that the island was actually two islands which were joined to possibly hide treasure, or a ship which was purposefully submerged. There has been coins, large parts of an old sailing ship located in the swamp over the years. There is also the thought that the swamp is man made because of the shape of it being a triangle which is not a naturally occurring shape in nature. Proof by verbosity has fuelled many people to believe these theories, when there many other possibilities to explain away many of the items which have been found in the swamp. There is also supporting evidence to prove that the swamp is man made, as there has been descriptions in historical documents mentioning the island and that in fact it was possibly two islands at one point in time.
