Glasnost may have exposed the government corruption and revealed the truth, which sows distrust and discontent for the people with the communist system. However, the economic problems has a far more devastating impact as it was a long-term issue stemming from Stalin's rule as it undermines the credibility of Soviet regimes over a long-run, causing Eastern Europe to start revolutions.
