Smart phones are teenagers' lives. If they got theirs taken away they would be distraught. Teenagers all use social media and they all text. Some parents monitor their child's activity on their phone. The question everyone else is asking is : Should parents be able to monitor their kids' digital life?

Today, the technology exists for parents to spy on their kids in all sorts of ways, but that doesn’t mean that they should. Although parents only intend on keeping their child safe, kids just want to have at least a little bit of freedom. Yes, it’s hard to believe, but children have some basic human rights as well, and privacy definitely should be one of them. Kids digital lives should not be monitored by their parents because not only does it invade their privacy, but also denies the consideration and decency which all people are entitled.

It makes sense for parents to worry about their children online activity. However, the worst thing parents can do is violate the trust in between them and their child. Now some people may say that parents need to see what their children are doing at all times. This is so they know what they are doing online at all times. This is wrong because if parents violate this bond, they can end up pushing their children farer and farer away. This makes them begin to keep secrets because they don't trust their own parents. Concerns about online activity can be solved by honest conversations between a parent and their child, not spying. Parents should not monitor their kids’ digital lives because it pushes their children away and violates the child's privacy.

Which brings many people to this question: Should parents monitor their kids’ digital lives? This article will discuss why whether or not a parent should keep a close eye on their child’s internet activity. In fact, parents should monitor their child’s internet activity because, monitoring a child’s activity helps keeping their kid safe and many kids will behave kinder online and think about their words if a parent is constantly keeping them in check. Despite the weak claims that keeping a close eye on a child’s internet activity is an invasion of privacy.

The digital age is among us. Everyone, from ages 10 to 50, (and sometimes even younger or older), are using technology that can communicate to other people across the world and play games with friends. People use Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook to talk to friends. Yet, parents of children who use these new apps and things disagree on the issue of whether or not they should be monitoring their children’s activity online. Parents should not monitor their children’s digital lives because it’s an invasion of their kids’ privacy and shows a lack of trust between the bond of a parent and their child.

Many kids these days have Snapchat, Instagram, or even Facebook. Parents are nervous that their kids are commenting bad comments on other people's accounts or using it to bully others. But is it Ok to have monitor their kids’ digital lives? Although parents can watch their kids if they have their account passwords or are friends with them to make sure they aren't doing anything bad, but it just isn’t right for parents to monitor their kids digital lives. I say this because if kids know that their parent have their account password it can cause kids to create secret account that their parent don’t know about. Also another reason is that could cause their kids to think that their parents don’t have trust in them.
