         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the Roman Empire, they developed a legal system that is very similar to that of modern Western culture, including the United States. It involved certain ideals such as everyone is equal before the law, and innocent until proven guilty, which were later adopted by the United States. However, Rome was still an ancient empire, so it did have some more strict laws, such as execution for insulting the Empire or its rulers.</div>]]></description>

However, after executing Jesus and accidentally spreading Christianity throughout the empire, Constantine issued the Edict of Milan, which ended the centuries of persecution, and later Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Roman economics depended highly upon agriculture, and they were extremely self-sufficient due to having enough land to support such agriculture. It also helped that they developed a standard currency consisting of aureus, denarius, sestertius, dupondius, and as, since that allowed for increased trade of goods and services, as well as being able to easily direct resources.</div>]]></description>
