         <description><![CDATA[<div>Answer the following questions with regards to your experiment and data collection. <br><br>How is cell division demonstrated in this lab?<br><strong>In order for the lettuce to to reproduce, grow, and mature, the cells need to divide in order to make the plant larger/longer. </strong><br>What is the definition of cell differentiation?<br><strong>Cell differentiation is the process by which an unspecialized cell becomes a more specialized cell type.</strong></div><div>How is cell differentiation demonstrated in this lab?<br><strong>Since stem cells are present in the roots of romaine lettuce, they have the ability to become any cell type the organism needs. In this lab, the stem cells were needed to aid the process of regrowing certain parts of romaine lettuce.</strong></div><div>Summarize the results of your experiment.<br><strong>Overall, our experiment was very successful since all three out our plants regrew and stayed healthy for a long period of time.&nbsp;</strong></div><div>Explain whether your data supported or refuted your hypothesis.<br><strong>Our data supported our hypothesis since our plants grew successfully in type of container.</strong></div><div>Explain any improvements you could make and/or any errors that occurred during the lab experience.<br><strong>During Thanksgiving Break, our experiment was still going on so if we had the ability to check in on the lettuce and have more supervision over the plants we might of had a better idea and how our lettuce was going to grow.</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

What is the scientific name of the plant?<br>The scientific name for Romaine Lettuce is Lactuca Sativa L. var. longifolia.<br>2. What type of plant is it?<br>Romaine Lettuce is a vegetable.<br>3. Where did the plant originate from geographically?<br>Romaine Lettuce is said to have originated from the Greek Island of Cos (Kos) off the coast of Turkey in the Aegean Sea. <br>4. What are the ideal enviornmental growing conditions?<br>Romaine Lettuce has ideal environments of growing in soil high in humus (plenty of compost) and it shows physical signs when it needs to be watered.<br>5.  What is the length of time for maturity from seed?<br>About 65 to 80 days after sowing depending on the variety for Romaine Lettuce.<br>6. What is the length of time for maturity from regeneration?<br>Romaine Lettuce will start regenerating after a couple of days after being placed in water, however the maturity time varies.<br>7. What are at least 3 Interesting facts about your plant?<br>- Romaine Lettuce contains 17% of protein, surprisingly. <br>- It contains more Vitamin A than a carrot does.<br>- One head of lettuce contains 20 ounces of water, which is 16% of one's daily water needs<br><br>Include pictures, videos, articles to answer these questions. <br><br></div>]]></description>
