Motion pictures
transcended languages and even literacy, treating
universal themes in familiar ways that allowed any viewer
to follow the stories.

This poster shows how big silent motion pictures became during this time period. It shows the specific difficulty that African Americans were facing at that time. The photo depicts their harsh background, while also embracing how far they have come in society. This is kinda similar in contemporary society in the sense that there is still such great racial pride. However, it is not typically depicted in the same way it was during the Harlem Renaissance.
