         <description><![CDATA[<p>Prof. Marie Young is a staff member of the Department of Sport Recreation and Exercise Science,University of the Western Cape, for the past 9 years. She majored at undergraduate level with recreation and industrial psychology resulting in a career at the City of Johannesburg, the local authority in Johannesburg, South Africa, as a Sport and Recreation Officer. She developed a passion working with youth and decided to share her knowledge and expertise with the youth by becoming an academic. She obtained her Doctorate degree in 2014 with a focus on therapeutic recreation and was commended for her contribution to this field of study in African context. </p>]]></description>

He holds a PhD in Sports, Recreation &amp; Exercise Science and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Western Cape. His current research focuses on using leisure education for leadership development among youth with physical disabilities. Makhaya is involved in community recreation programmes with NGO’s from disadvantaged backgrounds and health institutions for special populations.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Dr. Arianne Reis started her career as a physical education teacher and sports coach working in low-income communities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her work focused on providing opportunities for active leisure for children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and for those with physical and mental disabilities with the aim of engaging them in positive experiences and in healthy behaviours. After 10 years working as a practitioner, Arianne moved to New Zealand to pursue a PhD focusing on outdoor recreation, using leisure studies as a foundation for the study. Arianne is currently Director of Academic Program for the Master of Public Health and Master of Health Sciences programs at Western Sydney University, while also continuing to teach and research in health and leisure sciences. Her current research focuses on the ways active leisure pursuits can promote healthy living, environmental awareness and social justice. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Marcel Bastiaansen obtained a master in Experimental Psychology from Tilburg University (1996) and a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience (cum laude) in 2000. From 2000 – 2012 he worked as a full-time researcher and Principal Investigator both at the Donders Institute for Cognitive Neuroimaging and the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen. During that period his research focused on the relation between brain dynamics and language comprehension, memory and attention. In 2013 Marcel joined BUas, where he teaches quantitative research methods courses in the scientific bachelor and master programs of Leisure and Tourism. At BUas he has initiated both fundamental and applied research on the role of emotions in decision making, on neuromarketing, and on the EEG and physiological correlates of emotions and (consumer) experiences in leisure and tourism. He is currently developing a research program for implementing objective, biologically-based measurements of visitor experiences and emotions.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Dr. Banhidi is currently working as professor and coordinator for Recreation and Health Promotion program at the Szechenyi University in Gyor/Hungary. His teaching areas are the Theory and Practice of Recreology, Geography of Sport, Tourism and Recreation, Project Development. His research interest is Community development to improve the quality of life of the citizens and visitors. In his work he is focusing on topics, how to design and manage healthy environment and organize powerful activities to achieve positive benefits. He used to serve as the vice president of the United Games International organizing festivals and workshops on peace and understanding around the world. Since 2009 he is an elected member in the board of the World Leisure Organization. He is committed to help to grow the organization and tries to involve more young people into the organization.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Sandro Carnicelli is a Professor of Tourism and Leisure Studies and the Deputy Director of the Centre for Culture, Sport, and Events (CCSE) at the University of the West of Scotland, UK. Sandro has published articles in international journals, including <em>Annals of Tourism </em>Research,<em>Tourism Management, Annals of Leisure Research, Journal of Teaching</em>in Travel &amp; Tourism, and <em>World Leisure</em>. He is a member of the ABRATUR (International Academy for the Development of Tourism Research in Brazil), and a former Co-Chair of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Young Academy of Scotland (YAS).</p><p>Sandro is the Editor-in-Chief of the World Leisure Journal and Associate Editor for Event Management journal , he is on the Advisory Board of the Annals of Leisure Research, and on the editorial board of Tourism Management Perspectives and Leisure Studies.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Dr Richard Keith Wright is Co-Director of the AUT Centre for Active Ageing and the Programme Leader of the Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate in Sport and Exercise. He is a founding member of the Interdisciplinary Never 2 Old Research Cluster, situated within the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ), and was the Leader of the SPRINZ Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM) Research Group from 2022 to 2024. Rich has substantial sport event sector experience, in a number of paid and unpaid positions. He was the Legacy and Leveraging Director for the World Veteran Table Tennis Championships 2014, Chair of the North Shore Table Tennis Association from 2016-2020 and Secretary of the Auckland Sunday Football Association from 2021-2023. In 2022, he was elected as the first Chair of the Sporting Memories Foundation Aotearoa New Zealand, a charitable trust that supports the use of reminiscence and recreational therapy to help older adults living with dementia, depression and loneliness.</p>]]></description>
