The former librarian informed me prior to her retirement that she thought I would be a good fit because of my interest in her duties as well as my running joke that in my next life, I would be a librarian. I am currently working under an emergency certification while I work toward my Master of Library and Information Science.

The former librarian~ Denise Lafferty and Kathleen Baggs and Heather Tomar, the two other librarians in my district Have been key to my PLN. Denise continues to send me relevant articles that may assist me in my new position. Kay and Heather guide me through the nuances of administrative work, such as budgeting, working with the Follet system, SGOs and inputting information into our system.
Kay, Heather and myself, have also begun to develop a School Library Handbook for our district to ensure that future librarians have a guide to an easier transition into the role. We also believe that this will legitimize our role in the school among administration and our peers.
We have also collaborated with Larry Abrams, founder of BookSmiles, to help bring literacy to our students by soliciting book donations and distributing them to our students

After viewing my network, I found that I still use more face-to-face and emailing much more than I probably should. As I came across my latest Twitter discoveries of @LecturaBooks and @LatFamLit, I have been inspired to return to this networking platform as I would like to learn more about how to serve my large Latino population at school. My goal is to have my Latino families more engaged with the library through literacy and activities as that I could provide as I grow more in this area.

This was my PLN as this is where I got many of my ideas for bulletin boards and lesson plans. This is where I did most of my following and was followed prior to this class. Now I realize I must curate this platform better. There may have been some "dumping" going on. I also stopped pinning when this project was introduced.

This was a good activity to see how developing a PLN can stretch your networking and provide valuable information you didn't know you knew or needed. I encountered several people in person and on-line that mentioned common source such as @joycevalenza, @TEDTalks, and @sljournal. because of the small community as well as the need to engage and support one another, some platforms had reoccurring themes such as management, whether to weed or not and how to deal with parents and administration who want to censor books. Since I have limited experience, my engagement was limited to likes and simple response to what I knew, such as management and titles for certain teaching themes. My data seems inconclusive mostly because I relied on face-to-face interaction, as I am currently in the library and need to handle issues as expeditiously as possible to maintain the library's flow. The data that was provided from Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook detailed that I do in fact have activity but mostly in responding to queries or liking them. I don't think I'm ready to initiate posts on my own yet.
