According to UNESCO, "An intangible cultural heritage is a practice, representation, expression, knowledge, or skill to be part of a place's cultural heritage. Buildings, historic places, monuments, and artifacts are cultural property. Intangible heritage consists of nonphysical intellectual wealth, such as folklore, customs, beliefs, traditions, knowledge, and language". Thus, Intangible cultural heritage is considered by member states of UNESCO in relation to the tangible World Heritage focusing on intangible aspects of culture. In 2001, UNESCO made a survey among States and NGOs to try to agree on a definition, and the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was drafted in 2003 for its protection and promotion.

Our team have chosen Songket and Dondang Sayang as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity for Malaysia. The title of our world is "The Museum of Songket". We would like to introduce our National Heritage, Malaysia to the world by raising awareness at the local, national and international levels of the importance of the intangible cultural heritage, and of ensuring mutual appreciation by integrating STEM through game-based learning.

Songket

Songket is a traditional Malaysian handwoven fabric created by women in the Malay Peninsula and Sarawak. The term songket refers to the decorative weaving technique used to make the fabric, which entails inserting gold or silver thread in between the base threads. As a result, the extra threads seem to float over a colorful woven background to create an ornamental effect. Songket is woven using a kek, a traditional, two-pedal floor loom. The final product is a delicate fabric resulting from months of skilled handloom weaving by expert tailors.

The weaving technique, which dates back to the sixteenth century, is passed on from generation to generation, and the songket style can be identified by the design patterns that use geometric shapes and organic elements, such as flowers, birds and insects. The songket material was traditionally worn only by royalty and their families. However, today it is used by Malay people all over the country in traditional ceremonial clothing, for royal installations, weddings, births, festive occasions and formal state functions. Although the weaving of songket has always been firmly in the hands of women, men also partake in the practice by making the weaving equipment.

Dondang Sayang

Dondang Sayang is a traditional Malay art still practiced in Melaka by four communities: the Malay, Baba Nyonya, Chitty and Portuguese communities. The practice combines elements of music (violins, gongs and tambourines or the tambour), songs and chants, and features beautiful melodious strains of poetry. Also known as love ballads, the songs are used by communities to convey feelings of love and give advice on special topics such as love and kindness.

During the Melaka Sultanate era in the fifteenth century, Dondang Sayang was performed at Royal Palace ceremonies and events; subsequently, the performance became widespread among the communities concerned. Based on tradition, Dondang Sayang performances are accompanied by music and sung by two singers of the opposite sex, who sing in quatrains. Typically, Dondang Sayang singers are individuals who are highly competent and skilled in poetry recitation. Dondang Sayang performances are open to all, irrespective of age, occupation, status or religion, and the art is considered as a means of conveying positive messages and sharing feelings of love, joy and sorrow that strengthen community bonding. Performances are held on a regular basis, especially during gatherings festivals and parties, and nowadays many cultural programmed, activities and training activities are organized for those interested in participating and improving their singing and performance skills.

Since mid of July when the Heritage Immortalized Minecraft Championship 2023 was launched. Our team had discussed and planned to use our country, Malaysia to introduce our National Heritage to the world by raising awareness and promoting the importance of the intangible cultural heritage of Songket and Dondang Sayang.

As we know, the topic is to Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage. Intangible Cultural Heritage is transmitted from generation to generation, is constantly recreated by communities and groups in response to their environment, their interaction with nature and their history, and provides them with a sense of identity and continuity, thus promoting respect for cultural diversity and human creativity.

In this Museum of Songket it gives our local a job opportunity and meantime we can also promote our National Intangible Cultural Heritage to the tourist by generating revenues with tickets selling and products selling.

Therefore, our team had created five stations in the museum to promote our intangible cultural heritage which are the Songket and Dondang Sayang and will further discuss in the Uniqueness and Interactive sections below.

Besides that, our team had planned to do some coding and interactives elements for our Museum of Songket. We had built four stations inside the museum with NPC as the tour guides and each station will have interactives elements with explanations to the tourist about the making of Songket. And the final station which is outside of the museum where there will be a performance show by the locals to promote Dondang Sayang to the tourists.

Overall, our team had created a Museum of Songket that are full of facility such as restaurants, vending machines, rubbish bins and OKU parking lots at the main entrance.

In this station, the tailors will explain the traditional way of making Songket to the tourists.

In this station, the tour guide will guide the tourist to read the book of introduction of the modern way to make a songket. And tourists will have the chance by pulling the lever and experience how the machine makes the songket.

In this station, tourist can purchase souvenirs and even have the chance to try to make their own songket. There's also a gallery of songkets being displayed.

In this station, tourists will be invited to enjoy the performance by the locals to dance our famous Dondang Sayang. Our team had created note blocks music of the Dondang Sayang and also coded the dancers on the stage to dance together with the Dondang Sayang music.

Upon completing this project, our team had discussed how to make our Museum of Songket to be more outstanding comparable to the other teams?

Therefore, we had come out with the idea to make an ATM machine where the tourist can cash out their money to buy the tickets entrance and to purchase the souvenir at the souvenir shops later.

Throughout this process, our team faced few challenges upon completing the project. One of the challenge was, we had to find way to build the payment methods.

The second challenge that we faced was our team wanted the weaving machine to be really moving. So, we need to find a way to code the whole machine to move. Our solution finally found a code to move the machine.

Upon completing this project, our team had various sessions of brainstorming and debates despite our busy school schedule, on how to build our Museum of Songket.

In conclusions, we're very happy to form this team of ours. We had learnt the spirit of team works, and methods of negotiation on whose ideas to be chosen.
