         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>I can understand Thorndike and Skinners research studies.<br></em><strong>Thorndike- Law of Effect</strong></div><ul><li>purpose was to see if there was a line between between associated learning in humans and animals.</li><li>Animal was placed in a small box and had to figure out how to get out. Each time the animal got out, it would be rewarded and latency would increase.</li><li>Animals were able to find out how to solve the problems and could be compared to intelligent humans.</li><li>Time taken to escape decreased over time, Practice makes habits</li><li>Formal Discipline: Mind could be strengthened through discipline</li></ul><div><strong>Skinner- Operant Conditioning</strong></div><ul><li>&nbsp;purpose was to find the effects of rewards and reinforcement. Focused on events following results.</li><li>&nbsp;Skinner would put a rat in a box and if they pulled a level, food or water would be added into the area to positively reinforce.</li><li>&nbsp;Operant Conditioning: if a response is followed by a reinforcing stimulus, response strength increases.</li><li>events following response had a greater influence of later rate of occurrence.</li><li>Fixed Ratio, Fixed Interval, Variable Interval&nbsp;</li><li>can be used to help change behavior.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>I can understand Watson and Garcia<br></em><strong>Conditioned Taste aversion- Garcia</strong></div><ul><li>Rats were given Saccharin and then were exposed to radiation, and then were exposed to radiation without the Saccharin. The rats were given Saccharin 3 days later and results were recorded.</li><li>Rats associated that drink with sickness, since they were exposed to the radiation.</li><li>Garcia's results showed that a neutral stimulus used does have an influence on the conditioning process.</li></ul><ol><li>Unconditioned stimulus ---&gt; Unconditioned response</li><li>Conditioned stimulus and Unconditioned stimulus ---&gt; Unconditioned Response</li><li>Conditioned Stimulus ---&gt; Conditioned Response</li></ol><div>Acquisition: Process of pairing the Stimulus and Response<br>Extinction: When the Conditioned response dies down<br>Spontaneous Recovery: When the Conditioned response comes back.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>I can understand Pavlov research study.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</em>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</div><ul><li><strong>Pavlov's</strong> research involved classical conditioning.&nbsp;</li><li>Unconditioned stimulus was food in the experiment to elicit salivation.</li><li>Dog was able to salivate from the just the metronome as the new conditioned stimulus.</li><li>Pavlov's theory of classical conditioning is still used to explain things today.&nbsp; Inspired the little albert experiment.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>I can analyze Bandura and Seligman</em><br><strong>Seligman- Learned Helpless&nbsp;</strong></div><ul><li>&nbsp;Dogs were placed in a harness and shocked</li><li>escape group dog could end shock and non escape group could not</li><li>dogs were placed in a box the next day, the ones who could not get rid of the shock the day before did not attempt to escape.</li><li>the other dogs were able to easily jump out of the box.</li><li>helplessness could cause depression .</li></ul><div><strong>Bandura- Bobo Doll</strong></div><ul><li>Purpose was to discover if children would imitate adult models.</li><li>Each group was exposed to a certain behavior and were exposed to aggression.</li><li>Boys were overall more physically aggressive than girls.</li><li>Kids that were exposed to the violence reacted in aggression when confronted with frustration.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
