This book is all about a young girl called Malala who grew up in Pakistan. She was shot by some men who didn't believe that a young girl should be able to go to school. Malala survived and now fights for the rights of young girls all over the world. I recommend this book to all readers, particularly girls as it tells the story of a brave, confident and very smart young woman who stood up for her rights as a human being.

This book is all about friendship and how powerful your actions can be. The story looks at a young girl who starts at a new school and how the negative and cruel actions of the girls at the school exclude her and make her feel alone and sad. This story is a great one for young people learning to be Good Friends with each other.  Although it is a little sad, it teaches a powerful lesson on the power of Being Kind to each other.

A Question I have - I wonder if the little girl in the story made new friends when she left the school.

A Connection I made is- I remember when a little boy joined my primary school when I was in Grade 1. He was from Vietnam and didn't speak English. He ate different food to us and some people were unkind to him because he was different.

This book was all about a Dog who always had to win. He always cheated and rather than having fun, Pig would always cheat to win everything. One day he ate so fast because he wanted to win, he accidentally swallowed his bowl. This is a great book to learn about playing fair - and not cheating.

A Question I have is - I wonder if there is ever a time when it's OK to cheat?

A Connection I have - I remember when I was at school and there was a boy who always used to heat at handball. I didn't like playing with someone who cheated as the game was never as fun for everyone.
