         <description><![CDATA[<p>By around 1000 b.c.e., the Israelite nation had been established as a monarchy with Jerusalem as its capital. Around 930 b.c.e., the kingdom split into 2 Israels in the north, consisting of ten tribes, and Judah in the south, made up of two tribes. The kingdom of Israel was then conquered by Assyrians around 720 b.c.e., scattering its inhabitants to neighboring regions.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The kingdom of Judah fell into the hands of the Babylonians, who destroyed the temple and exiled the people to Babylon. This began the Jewish diaspora to different parts of the world. Around 539 b.c.e., the Persians conquered the Babylonian empire, including Jerusalem. About twenty years after this, the Persian ruler Cyrus the Great allowed some Jews to return to Jerusalem. </p>]]></description>

After about 100 years the Egyptians started treating them like slaves so God sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt and to the promised land. This ended up destroying Jewish communities in Europe along the way. When this finally ended, many Jews had been killed, forced to convert, or forced to migrate to escape persecution.</p>]]></description>

This was significant because Jews faced a lot of oppression and often times new rulers would force citizens to follow their religion, but this time the new ruler didn't.</p>]]></description>
