         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Puritans were English Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries who sought to purify the Church of England of Roman Catholic practices. As is is shown in the picture the are praying together.They also are spreading the word of God. Adding to that they wanted a government of God not a government that consists of regular people. They believed that God made a deal with them to reform the church of Anglican, to set a good example that would cause those who had remained in England to change their sinful ways. </div>]]></description>

The whole point of McCarthyism was to get rid of supposed communist McCarthy's unsubstantiated claims ruined lives and led to increased hostility. McCarthy's accusations of communism had similar effects to the accusations of witchcraft in Salem. People's reputations and lives were shattered. The professions that were usually suspected were librarians, college professors, entertainers, journalists, clergy, government employees</div>]]></description>
