If I had more time, then I would have wanted added more color in the white areas. I think mostly the same color, but also add some blue in the negative spaces.

I used oil pastels for the entire picture, and I think that it worked really well for the sky and the connnection between the land and water.

This collage is inspires, and made up of, completely random pieces from different coloring book pages. I wanted to incorporate a lot of different shapes, but I tried to keep my main shape as the circles and the owl/rectangle shape that i ended up coloring.

Inspiration

I looked for pictures from the botanical gardens on the internet that incorporated a main focus on the center of the picture. I really liked the idea of a butterfly as the center, as well as a couple of flowers so I tried to tie in both in my piece. I am happy with my final piece, even though I am not a huge fan of water color.

These are just a few sketches that we did in class. I really enjoy sketching, so this was an enjoyable task for me. I was also really satisfied with my sketches, especially because I have not done sketches from real life before.

Overall, I really enjoyed this class. I took Drawing and Painting I my freshman year and I decided to take Drawing and Painting II this year. I liked all of the projects that we had to do, but my favorite final piece is probably the Figure Interrupted. I like this piece a lot because I got to incorporate a lot of different things, such as charcoal, acrylic paint, colored pencil, and other pieces of abandoned work. I also really like my final piece of the Botanical Garden project. I do not prefer using water colors, but we had to for this project and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I am happy that the piece turned out basically how I imagined it, but I think that I could use some practice with water colors still. Also, we did a lot of sketching and shading this semester, which is my favorite thing in art. I am glad I got to practice my art for a class and I hope to take more art classes throughout the years.
