This obviously shows that he is religious and that he and the rest of the platoon cared for Lieutenant Carroll, it also references the title of the book "Fallen Angles" when Monaco mentions "Angle Warriors" PG 128

"What unit you with?" - A Major. When nobody answered this, it allowed the Major to know something was wrong, and allowed the audience to remember how they accidentally killed some of their own guys. PG 128

"Medic! Medic!" -Perry. Brew had been shot in the leg and was bleeding out PG 204, so Perry called for a medic but it didn't matter and Brew died anyway.

Peewee is strange.

"A hundred and thirty-two" "I weigh a hundred and forty. Whatever you weigh, that's how many you got to kill to leave early" - Peewee. PG 20. This shows Peewee has a sense of humor and might be slightly deranged.

"You're too young to be just an observer in life" PG 35 - Mrs. Liebow. this helps Peewee to see how he is "just an observer" in life and is one of the reasons he joined the army in the first place.
