First I unpacked the learning outcome, looking at each part of it an deciding what was going to be thought in this lesson. After I had decided that I was going to focus on eclipses and lunar phases, I them moved to deciding what resources to incorporate. I decided to use a PowerPoint to scaffold the lesson, visual simulators to aid visual learners and handmade crafts to aid kinesthetic learners. Before the lesson I made a list of potential questions I would ask students to assess their understanding of the topic. I also made a model of the moon to show how the phases of the moon work. This was simply made with some colour card and a good imagination! These practical demonstrations allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of the topic and how both eclipses and lunar phases work.

These simulators allowed students to visually see and imagine what our solar system looks and acts like. They were able to see the different sizes of the planets and what would happen if there was no gravity. Both topics for the next four weeks are from the unit of earth and space, students will be able to link both topics together at the end of this unit (MI&T). The earth sun and moon model will allow students to demonstrate their creativity skills, as we will hopefully be able to design a model of the earth, sun, and moon. There will be aspects of this topic that will incorporate both individual,(MM), and group work(WWO,C), this will help develop key skills such as self-management and working with others. We will also look at how earth interacts with the sun and the moon and build a model to show this. The next topic, space exploration, will move on from the earth sun moon model to build upon students understanding of the solar system. Students will be able to investigate the future of space travel and what this means for us in the future. Both these topics will provide students with and understand of how certain aspects of the solar system and our journey of discovering it. Understanding the key scientific concepts of what happens outside our planet,(MI&T), will enable students to think like scientists and investigate and inquire where we think science will take us in the next few years (BC). These topics will cross over with other subjects, such as the earth in geography, this cross curricular link will incorporate MI&T into the classroom.
