If Admiral Spruance had decided to sail to the phillippines on the Indianapolis, rather than fly, McVay might well have been given the information about the Tamon group or the Underhill, because Spruance was a flag officer. Although that might have had a change within history it also might have prevented most of the people aboard the ships lives of ending so quickly.
