Overview: After World War 2, the amount of women in the workforce decreased and there was a "baby boom". Then these birth rates went down after birth control methods were improved like oral pills for birth control. This time period also gave way to many feminist movements.

After the war, the percentage of working women went down significantly. This was not necessarily true for the US and the Soviet Union however. The percentage of married women of women workers went up from 15% to 62% from 1900 to 1970 and by 1970, 92.5% of women in the Soviet Union held jobs.

After the first World War, some countries had already acknowledged the role women played in the war and granted them voting rights. After the second, they became even closer to gaining that right and Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, and Czechoslovakia granted women's suffrage in 1918, followed by the United States in 1920.

In the 1960's, a movement arose to fight for the liberation of women and the role they played in society. They were sick of not being considered equal to the male in their relationship. Simone De Behaviour became detrimental to the cause, leading to her publishing of "The Second Sex" in 1949

Women's rights started a huge movement and resulted in a strong pull for the women's rights. Women and men alike started pulling for more rights to women especially after the vital role they played in the war. Another large part had to do with the fact that women were promised rights after the first world war but didn't get any so women were again promised more rights and no signs were shown that meant they were going to get them so women fought for them instead of standing idly by again.

The Chernobyl incident in 1986 was extremely alarming and pollution from car fumes, factories, and power plants were causing illness and lung diseases all over the world which resulted in surges like the Green Movement.

The origins of Green Parties were by no means uniform. Some came from anti-nuclear movements which resulted from everything from the Chernobyl incident to the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Some even came from the women's rights movements. However most started on a local level and then they worked their way up to the national level and became political parties. They worked best in Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, and most prominently in Germany however most parties could not agree on some simple things outside of the fact that they needed to improve the environment so they failed in the government while raising lots of money to use towards the environment.

The computer was invented during World War II by Alan Turing to help the Allies decode messages sent by the Axis powers. Though it was primal and not extremely advanced like the current ones it was one of the first to arise. In addition, the creation of the e-mail in the 1990s transformed the way we communicate. It was much easier to send messages over long distances because of the internet.

Through movies, books, television, and advertising especially, Americans have spread their idea of consumerism and the American Dream across the world.
