As a group we got everything checked so we were sure we could start our work for this unit. We then worked on several different pieces of work like SWOT analysis and peer assessment sheets. We then put some personal targets relating to maths and English on the pro-portal page so we'd be able to look back on them as well as any staff being able to do the same. We then filled out a sheet that explained our feedback and what we could do to improve our grades that we were given. 

The activities we did today helped me to analyse my skills by looking at the feedback I was given in the previous units and it showed me what I needed to do to improve. This helped because this meant that I knew what areas I was failing in and how I could change it. I feel like my strengths are being able to get work done to a good standard at a good pace. My weaknesses are definitely organisation and making work clear. I plan on making my working clearer and justifying my answers more. This will be relevant when it comes to the documents such as production schedules and the evaluation. We learnt what we needed to do and what was in the brief. This helped because it gave me an idea of what I wanted to do and what I couldn't do. It showed me the rules and requirements for an actual video. I learnt that if your creating a video it needs to be no longer than 5 minutes and could not include several different controversial topics. These include no political or explicit/ sexual content. I looked at the many different types of videos you could produce and I personally decided on an advert for a local charity. The charity I've chosen isn't necessarily local but they have and work with organisations all over the country and they have an organisation they work with near by. 

I included this in my mood board and my mind map. The company was founded in 2016 when mental health awareness became prominent. There was one original idea of a take off of a comedy show but due to the fact that its not an original idea by myself or another member of my group then we weren't able to do it. Instead we went with the mental health charity instead. Its something that is very close to my head due to the fact that I personally have suffered with my mental health at one point. I plan on doing some research on when and why the charity was founded. I know it was founded by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince Harry. Other than that I know nothing about the charity. If we do not get permission, there are several different other ideas we could do.
This includes making the video an awareness campaign and not including a specific charity to make the video for. I wrote all of mine down and then I was the first to pitch mine. I pitched mine in about 3 minutes and then I answered questions asked by Leila for the next 2 minutes I was there for. For my research I found I had to complete several different industry professionals. Even though I had previously completed several different industry professionals I was unsure of how to properly complete them but I was fairly confident on what to include. I decided to complete four industry professionals ( 2 for editors and 2 for producers) and two job profiles. 

I was then asked to film somebody else's proposal. This entailed me holding up either a phone or iPad to record their proposal. This helped me because I then knew what other people had in mind. I then somehow ended up filming almost everybody else's. This helped with my camera skills and presentation skills. 

Even though I didn't manage to finish my research I was able to get some good camera experinece out of it. I knew somewhat to do with several of those pieces of equipment. The tascam and the different lights were easiest for me to use. 
This helped us to understand the equipment better ourselves as it was just like a reminder for us. I struggled when putting together the jib and I also struggled slightly with the steady cam. I am therefore, more under confident with working these pieces of equipment. 

I plan to work with the tascam and the lighting during the production of my FMP. Other than that, I might need some extra help with the other pieces of equipment. It's not that I wouldn't be able to use it, it's just that I would need some extra assistance when I do use it. 
At some point I plan on going over the pieces of equipment I am less confident with. Everything completed today is now on the group padlet and all of my work is saved on my USB due to the fact that I can then keep track of my work and any group work I have completed. I created a survey via survey monkey to help get the primary research needed for task 2. 

I started and finished the risk assessment as well as calling up stewards Academy to see about filming on their location. They said the person I wanted to speak to wasn't in today so I decided to call back tomorrow. Other than that the only things I have left to do for task 2 is to get some primary research. We got given the Steadicam to work with in which we had to use it at least once. We had to complete at least about 5 documents. I completed the equipment booking sheet and location visit and blocking. 

We got everything done fairly early so we managed to get some more time for the filming. We got everything filmed within an hour and this meant we had enough time for editing afterwards. The Steadicam didn't work as well as we had of hoped. It wouldn't steady out so in my opinion we wont be actually using it when it comes to filming for the FMP. 

The whole task helped me when it came to things such as lighting and using the Steadicam. I learnt how hard it is to get the Steadicam steady and get it to stay still. 
The biggest problem we had was the Steadicam and the lighting. I managed to make a start on my research summery as well as all of task 2a. I then decided to go over them all and improve them by using various different sources for the industry professionals and the job analysis. This then means I've used a wide range of sources to get my information from which means my evidence and my writing is more solid. 
I referenced every website I used and included the same link in the bibliography at the bottom of the page. The biggest problem I faced through this today was the fact that I hadn't written enough and I wasn't sure how much I needed to write and in what format. After looking at various examples I was then more confident in what I needed to do, what was expected and how I needed to format the work.

I managed to insert a citation after each "section" ended. Once I'd finished writing up information from one source, I incerted a citation which will then be linked in the bibliography at the bottom of the page. This meant the worked look clearer and it was easier to see where I got everything from. This then also showed how many sources I used. I decided to put these in bold due to the fact that after putting about 2 in, I felt as though it wasn't clear enough. It showed us what happened in 2016 and what we could include. 

I faced no problems today other than the layout of my industry professionals. I struggled due to the fact that I kept forgetting the links but I managed to re-open my previously closed pages and create a bibliography at the bottom of the page. 

The bibliography is something I plan on doing throughout every piece of work. I faced no problems today due to the fact that we were at a university. The main problem that I faced today was the fact that we were unable to ask people anything. Due to the fact that we are filming next week, I called up the school we plan to shoot at (stewards Academy) to talk to the head teacher. The receptionist has told me she'll call me when she gets a chance. Im expecting a call either tonight or tomorrow. This means that our location conformation is more secure and ahead of time. This gives us time to be able to ensure another location if our preferred location isn't available. I learnt how to do a proper bibliography today as well. I was unsure of how to set it out previously but I managed how to set it out properly today. 

I faced few problems today other than the computer I was working on kept crashing on me. It froze completely and I had to restart it. Both for the 13th and the 19th.

I managed to complete the contingency plan, the production schedule and start the crew profiles. I managed to put all of these documents onto the group padlet as well as my individual padlet and showbie. On the group padlet i put my name above the document to clearly represent what work I had done myself. This means its easier when it comes to marking. 

I also plan to do the location recce along side doing one of the minutes of meetings. 
By doing all of these now it means i have a head start for Friday and hopefully I can complete more over the next two days. I managed to finish off my research analysis for the secondary research and then I completed the crew profiles by adding photos. I also started and completed the location recce seen below. 

This all helped with me because myself and my group can now be signed off and start production next week. 

Everything has been sorted, we've got consent for interviews and location among other things. We've managed to get consent for the music to use in the video. The music is a remix of Alive by Sia. 

Later in the day we conducted test shots for visual and audio proof. This consisted of us taking photos and videos of Katharine in the locations we want to use. This meant we could look at the lighting and determine weather we needed lights or not. It means that when it actually comes to filming we are certain on whether we need lights or not. It means we waste less time. 
We also went into the motion room and tested the tascam and lapel mic. This meant we could see what type of audio equipment we preferred. We found that a lapel is good for individual audio but that a tascam is better for an interview. This is because you can hear multiple people at once.  

I struggled with the tascam as i hadn't used it in a while. This helped because when it comes to filming I'll be more confident. 
I also couldn't download the audio from the lapel so i have decided to download it at home due to the fact that i think its the computer not allowing me to download anything. 
I also was asked to update my production schedule due to the fact that it said a location we weren't planning to film at anymore. That didn't take long though. This consisted of us gathering our equipment and then conducting our first interview. We asked some pre-planned questions regarding mental health and then set up all of our equipment so we could record it. We used a DSLR, Light, Tripod, Boom Pole, Tascam and a Lapel mic. This means i understood how to use the equipment better such as the tascam. It also meant we were able to get better quality footage for our FMP. 

We then recorded some B-Roll of the safe guarding department and the front of the college. We did this by using a DSLR camera to get the required shots. We wanted (and got) things like a panning shot in reception and a shot using the slider in Safe-Guarding. After this we conducted our second interview in which there were two interviewees. The only problem we faced with this was the fact that the two interviewees were a little too under confident. They were very hesitant when answering which made our video longer and editing harder. They prepared their answers and we proceeded to conduct these interviews. 

Afterwards we got some B-Roll of the SEND department and took some photographs as well. This means we have a variety of footage. This was helpful due to the fact that when it comes to editing and choosing footage, we have a wide range of footage and we are less likely to have a boring video. We then conducted and recorded a focus group for our FMP. The focus group meant we were able to get a view of younger people who could relate more to the audience we were aiming for. We had Julie Turrell, Lucy Beckwith and Callum Chung as part of the foucs group and Adam, Me and Katharine filming behind the scenes. This consisted of people discussing some topics on mental health In front of the camera and giving their view on the topic.

On Friday we plan to record the presenting section of the video and then start editing and putting everything together and all in one. After this we will continue editing on through the next week and hopefully finish soon and with a good product.

We finished filming the video for our FMP. The clips we finished filming included our intro, outro and some other footage including/ involving Katharine. 

All of these bits of footage had scripts so there was no problem with wording during the filming process. For post-production, I started editing the interviews and the bloopers from recording earlier in the day. I also completed the rushes log for all of the footage we had gathered throughout the day. 

I learnt how to complete a rushes log due to the fact this was the first I had ever completed. I got some help from Katharine who re-designed the rushes log which made it much clearer for me to understand and complete. 
The filming took around 3/4 of the day and the post-production took around 1/4 of the day. I decided I wanted to edit everything separately so if I messed up on one, I could go back and change it without messing up the rest of the footage. 
My target for today was to learn how to adjust the brightness on the camera due to the fact that i struggled with it previously. This involved editing the basic video together and getting something Adam could put effects onto. I edited all of the interviews, intro, outdo, presenting sections and B-roll that was included in this video. I used Adobe Premier Pro CC to edit the video and checked through all of the named footage one by one to add it up to the relevant audio for that specific clip. 

I managed to edit the basics of the video and get it all into one. its currently standing at 4:09 without any titles or special effects. 
I learnt mainly more about editing today and how the director works with the editor.

I had to ask for Katharine's input and help on the editing of the video so I was able to put the full video together and make it something I'm happy with. The only things left now are adding the special effects, the screening and any paperwork such as the evaluation. These can only be done after the screening though (All but the special effects)
Tomorrow, I plan to help with the special effects if its needed and complete the presentation needed for the screening along with the video. 

I also decided that because my workload was limited at this point, I would help Adam with the after effects section of the video and help him with what I've already done.
Today I mainly gained more editing skills. The brief requires the presentation to be 3 minutes long and to be before the video. The presentation has to include and introduction, target audience, Research findings, Production outcomes and a conclusion. We also had to include visual and audio aspects to add to the presentation. We decided to include the song we used, a remix of Alive by Sia and the interview we conducted with Marion. All of this was put into a power point due to the fact that we thought this was the best and easiest way to present our work to a large audience. 

I then decided to get a head start on my evaluation. This meant me getting up the 'questions' and writing the basics about Pre-production, Production, post production and various other things that we did. This took me to the end of the day. 

In between this, myself and Katharine went out various times to go and check how the finishing touches of the video were coming along. This helped because it meant we were able to get constant updates on the finalised video and we knew where we stood on what work was left to do. 

When it came to the finalisation of the video we faced one main problem. This was the audio. When me and Katharine listened back to it for the first time we both found that the music was too loud and the audio from the interviews was too quiet. We both agreed and asked Adam (who was finalising the video) to adjust the volume. 

My main target for today was to finish the video get a good head start on my evaluation. I managed to do this by getting the final video exported and answers about 5 sections of my evaluation. The evaluation has currently got a large paragraph for each section with more to add after we've been given relevant feedback.

I added them onto my padlet and onto my showbie. This means that even though I've already got a pass, they are there and I 110% know where all of my work is. I next went over all of my padlet entries. I managed to get through to the point where i have 2 or 3 left to go through. I asked someone to go through it for me and take a look to see where I might be going wrong. All of my padlet entries are now a lot longer than they were (the ones I've managed to get through). 

After going through all of my padlet entries and updating them (which took until around 12:00) I started to continue on with my evaluation. I've got less than half left to complete on my evaluation. I started on Tuesday and i decided to use the bullet points on the brief to help me write it. I've managed to write around 845 words and six paragraphs so far. I intend on elaborating on all of my points to make sure there is a reason and clear explanation for every point made. 

Once I've finished writing the evaluation, ill go over every paragraph again and add and remove words where its needed. This will hopefully allow me to get my evaluation to at least 3 pages long. 

Right now I am unaware of any word limit but if there is one i shall tweak the evaluation. I intend to reach around 2000 words with this evaluation which will mean i have clearly explained all of my points. By me starting the evaluation now it means i am definitely going to meet my deadline of the 19th. It also allows me to adjust and spend more time reading through my evaluation. 

The video went through some tweaking today but not by me. Adam wanted to adjust the text colour and add in some more B-roll. I decided to try my best to finish and improve as much as possible of my evaluation and key points I had made throughout. I was and still am unsure of whether I need a bibliography or not, but seeing as I've referenced some facts and websites I decided to include one to be safe. I have (at this point) written around 2411 words and completed it over a total of 6 pages. Yes this includes the bibliography at the current time but once I've finished writing about the feedback, ill be able to get an acurate number of words and pages. 

I am waiting on the screening to be able to finish the feedback section. I have managed to conducted a focus group in which they gave feedback. I was then able to include the feedback they gave in the evaluation and the focus group was recorded too. The recording for the focus group was then put onto showbiz so I would be able to reference it at a later date. 

Overall I am very happy with the way my evaluation has turned out. The grammar and spelling is all correct. the quality of the content is up to a good standard and there is a bibliography. I still have some more to go over as I feel I can still expand on some sections of my work. Im hoping to get the evaluation to around 2500 words and make it six or seven pages long. Obviously not including the bibliography. 

I then decided to go over my previous padlet entires for this unit due to the fact that I definitely know I can expand on several points within them. This took me to around 2:00pm. 

I was able to expand my skills on word and writing. I learnt a little while back how to do a proper bibliography using word so once I've included all of my links, I plan to make that a proper bibliography. I also have included a conclusion so I can go over all of my tasks and how I think I did on them. This included the video, the paperwork I completed during that time and the link to the final video. I spent about 30 minutes handing in and sorting out what work I had to hand in. All of my work and relevant links have been handed in and I will now meet the deadline for task 3. 

Next i focused on my evaluation. I created a survey where I would then be able to get the relevant feedback needed for my work. I have so far managed to write around 3,000 words and 7 pages of my evaluation. I am waiting on the screening to complete the feedback section and finish adding in all of my links. 
I have not yet properly formatted the bibliography due to the fact I am waiting on more links. Once the work has been viewed on Friday, I will be able to properly finish my evaluation and correctly format the bibliography.

Today I learnt how to write an evaluation that sounds and looks like i took the relevant and adequate care needed to get the mark desired. I also decided to sit and improve my padlet entries so that they wouldn't bring my mark down too dramatically. I have always struggled with the padlet entries due to the fact that i am too descriptive. I also tried not to be too descriptive with my evaluation and focused a lot more than i previously have on reflection of my work. 

I asked Leila to go through my evaluation and take a look. We were first to present our project and our presentation. The powerpoint wasn't working so we had to get the memory stick out and take it off that. We also downloaded the powerpoint onto our iPads so we could read it off that. the powerpoint and presentation section went remarkably well. We got through the entire presentation without an issue and we were clear on our points. 
Then we moved onto the video section. This meant that we played our video and were able to get feedback on what people thought of the video. We got feedback like the text was to squashed and you were able to see the boom pole. The presentation and the feedback was filmed in two parts and both parts have been put onto showbie as a reference. 
The screening lasted around 3 hours and during that time, I was able to watch other groups' presentations and films as well as listening to and giving feedback afterwards.

Next I went onto editing and finalising my evaluation. Leila had a look through and gave me some tips on how to improve. I was able to go through these tips and improve each section of my evaluation. The evaluation is around 8 - 10 pages long and includes several references and a bibliography at the end. I was already very happy with the written section of the evaluation but I wanted and needed to add in some visuals so support my writing. Ive included some visuals like the focus group, the interviews, the music and the screening. I decided to include these at the points where I'm talking about my experience with the screening and how it went, the editing for the writing on the screen and what that looked like and the focus group and how I feel that helped our production. 
My evaluation was already at 9 pages long but didn't include any visual/ audio aids. After adding in the visual aids I extended my evaluation to around 13 pages and around 4,500 words. 
I also visited the bursary and got the forms so I was able to re-apply. This took around 20 minutes of my time. 

I am glad I was able to add in audio and visual aids due to the fact that this will impact and help my grade go up for my task 4 section of my FMP. 
The visual/ audio aids help me give and explain my points that are relevant to the photo/ screenshot given.
