My typical school day is : we start at eight and we have five periods in a day with lunch in the middle and we end at three. We have a six minute bell which tells us that we have six minutes to go to class before we're late and then we have a one minute bell which tell us to get to class. The bell rings at the end of class and we usually just leave. Lunch usually starts at eleven fifteen. The first lunch (we have two lunches) is from eleven fifteen to eleven forty five and the second one is from twelve to twelve thirty. We have clubs that we can join and we also have club's day which is when we leave early from class to get to our clubs. Our clubs are usually before lunch. We also have home-room day when to go to our home room and we fill papers that we need for the next four years in high school and other important stuff that we need to do.

Another difference between the United States and France is the school system. It is required to go to school in the United States just like it is in France but we don't have maternelle, or school that starts at the age of three that is public. Public school in the United States starts around the age of five and it starts with kindergarten. Kindergarten is the first year of elementary school. In elementary school you have kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade. Then you go to middle school. In middle school you have sixth, seventh and eighth grade. Then you go to high school. High school is four years. They are ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade. Once you graduate to high school you can continue school and go to the university or what we call college. When you go to college or university, you have to pay several thousands of dollars each semesters, even if it is public. Whereas in France, it is quite different. It is much less expansive to go to a university when you go to a public school.
