Time- out is effectively used as a cool down tool when students need to cool down. The designated time out spot can be in or outside of the classroom. While in time out, students should fill out some sort of reflection activity over their behavior. Once the activity has been completed and the student is cooled off, they can return to class.
USING TECHNOLOGY:
The teacher can make a behavior reflection template using google drive or evernote. The student can use technology to fill out the template for the teacher and return to class.

This strategy is used when rewards are given to the whole class, because the whole class is meeting an expected behavior. Group contingency holds all students accountable for themselves for the success of the group. Older students may see this as unfair.
USING TECHNOLOGY:
Use a random group generator such as Team Maker to split the class into separate teams. You can then give teams points a]based on engagement, citizenship or contribution to the lesson. The app, Class Dojo can also be used. Also use Social Media to help enhance group contingency .
