On this night, German Nazis torched synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes, schools, and businesses, killing almost 100 jews. On the following days, an estimated 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and sent to concentration camps, only being released when promising to leave Germany. Over 100,000 Jews fled the country as they realized that the Nazi anti-semitism was not temporary and would only get worse. Non Jews helped the Jews out with everything even preparing for Bat Mitzvahs. Neighbors of Jews that were Non Jews were always on good terms. Miriam Ron's family was lucky enough to not get on the train. That night, the family went back to their house because the father was in the hospital. The next morning after that, they received a call asking for their family, so they ran from bench to bench until they found shelter with a professor. Once the family went back to their house, a work friend of the fathers came to their house and told them they needed to run again. This time they tried to get a taxi to take them somewhere but they were being denied because they were Jewish. Finally, one man did and showed them to a place where they would be on polish soil so they would be safe.
