         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lute songs were more of a personal genre than that of madrigals. With the complexity of the madrigals a lot of words that painted the picture were lost. Lute songs helped convey better emotions and painted a picture more clearly. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>He composed many lute and air songs. Most of his works had a bit of a dance feel. A lot of these are the precursors to ballads we here today. He wrote the entire First Book of Ayres and the other 2 books as well. He composed most of the songs within the 3 books. In the last book of ayres he used contrapuntal lute parts and used more than just lute to accompany the solo voice such as a choirs and viols. The man is the reason our music sounds so great at Christmas Fantasia! His most famous work was <em>Flow, my tears</em> which spouted so many arrangements and variations. The musical pattern was aabbCC. </div>]]></description>
