1. Problem/need recognition

It's 9pm on Sunday evening, what's for breakfast tomorrow morning?

2. Information search

You check your fridge and pantry to see what ingredients you already have. You might also browse recipes online, think about what you’re craving, or consider what’s quick and easy for a Monday morning. If you're missing something, where can you buy it?
3. Evaluation of alternatives

You weigh your options: Should you make eggs and toast, have cereal, grab a pastry, or maybe go out for a breakfast sandwich? You consider factors like time, nutrition, taste, and effort required. What's cheapest or most convenient?

4. Purchase decision

You make a choice and prepare accordingly. Maybe you decide on overnight oats and prepare them before bed, or you set out cereal and milk for a quick start. If you're missing ingredients, you plan a morning grocery stop. Maybe you've decided where you want to go based on your evaluation.

5. Post-purchase behaviour

After breakfast, you reflect on your choice. If it was satisfying and kept you full until lunch, you’re happy with the decision. If it wasn’t filling or didn’t taste great, you might choose something different next time.
