1. "saving a dog and a white woman is a stupid way to die. Only thing in the world you need to save is yourself."
Lafayette remembers that his dad died while saving a dog and a woman. He felt that his dad was a hero, while Charlie thinks it's just a dumb way to end your life.
2. "see the old Charlie had feelings". Lafayette is realizing that ever since Charlie has gone to Rahway Home for Boys he has a negative attitude. It seems like Charlie has just given up on school work. This is why Lafayette now calls him Newcharlie.
3. "leave my brother alone". This quotes may not be super specific but it is one of my favorites because it shows that at one point they stood up for each other.

The book Miracle's Boys is a story about three boys who's parents died. This story takes place of the course of two days including events and flashbacks that have happened before. Charlie had came back from Rahway home for boys after being there for over two years. Charlie used to be the boy who would be sad if a dog died or was hurt. That all changed after he had came back from juvenile detention. He is never talkative towards Lafayette and prefers to be in the streets with his friend Aaron because he believes it makes him seem "tough". That is why Lafayette now calls Charlie "Newcharlie". One day Lafayette is left in the apartment alone watching TV until Tyree got home, he started having flashbacks and sharing his life story, before Lafayette was even born his father had died from hypothermia after saving a woman and her dog. There was a rough patch in the family's life. Approximately three years after the father had died Charlie decided to rob a neighbor hood convenient store. He was arrested, because Charlie was only twelve he was sent to Rahway home for boys. The boys mother had eventually passed away from diabetes complications. Lafayette had been the one who found her unconscious in her bed in the morning. He blames himself to this day that he should've been there to save and help her. Tyree had returned home from work that night to find out that Charlie was upset about what had happened to there family. Tyree reassures him that everything will be okay and that he was in Central Park the afternoon their father had died. Lafayette feels better that he hadn't been the only one who's seen a family member die. That night Charlie had been arrested again for riding in a stolen car with gang members. Lafayette and Tyree had to go the police station during the middle of the night. Charlie doesn't realize this but if he gets sent to the home for boys again Tyree will lose custody of Lafayette. If that does end up happening he will be sent to there aunt Cecile's. The officer had thankfully decided to let Charlie off the hook. Once the boys returned home from the station they sat outside the apartment on the stoop thinking about what the future will hold for them.

It is sometimes hard to understand the book because it goes from the present to the future. If I had the chance to read this book again I definitely would. This book will make some people come to the realization that they have it and should be thankful for that.
