As the story comes to an end, the children are so attached to the house system and feel terrified of having it ripped away by their parents. They trap them in the African Veldt with the lions which finally filled the fantasy they had been watching happen in their nursery. There are a lot of lines in the song "Telescope" that remind me of why the kids did what they did. The song talks about a boy who walks around his house pointlessly but never wanting to leave, even if he knows there is a whole other world out there. The chorus mentions that no one understands, but he has nowhere left to turn, the walls around him keep breaking, but no matter what time is always spent or wasted anyways. I think this sums up why the children agreed to let their parents die in the room. The house is all they know and they do not care the explore anything outside of their comfort.

In the middle of the story, Lydia and George as well as the psychologist realize how dependent the children have become on the nursery and the house. They spend their time in The African Veldt of a nursery because they do not have any emotional to their parents. The Garvo623 (My robots brain) is a good example to represent this situation. The chorus of the song says "trying to change my robot's brain is impossible... I want to believe the things she says are true." This is a good way to think of the nursery to the children. The nursery is their life, it does everything for them. They cannot change that fact because that is the life they were born into. The house is their mother and nurturer and caregiver, their "robot's brain."

In the first few pages of the short story, Lydia and George, the parents of two children begin to realize the consequences of having a home that does everything for them. Lydia begins to feel useless and believes she is nothing compared to the complex house system. She also reminds George that he has been smoking and drinking more. This song relates perfectly to that because is addresses the issue that people need to remember... they themselves are not robots and that is okay. It is meant to remind people they are not perfect and they should not try to be, like Lydia and George do when they had the house system installed.
