I live and teach in Brussels, a very diverse and multicultural city. However, Brussels has its own local culture which reflects its liberal diversity. There are a number of events, like the Zinneke parade, which would be great to encourage students to go to or to organise a trio to. Such an event encourages students to look for culture locally.

I am actually attending this MOOC in order to get some ideas. I am currently teaching at a technical school and culture (meaning the arts) seems to be very marginal in the mindsets of students, nevertheless I struggle to make comparisons between different cultural backgrounds and to engage students in finding an interest in what represents the lasting heritage that we as individuals and communities will leave to posterity. I think that what the video try to transmit and infuse is to encourage people to find common values in diversity ; to perceive diversity as enrichment and not as an obstacle. I think we are working on this issue since 2005 through , and thanks to, eTwinning projects. My school has applied for an Erasmus grant with a project which has the title"finding a sense through senses".Through this project we aim to help students to understand the value of a shared cultural heritage through the activating inclusion of less abled people . The project aims to sensitize young people about the The EU goal of appreciation of cultural heritage and social inclusion as well, and if and how social inclusion and enhancement and transmission of cultural heritage can be strictly linked together. As " if social inclusion is to be made a reality in Europe and if social exclusion is to be overcome, then everybody must have power over all the resources needed in their societies to achieve these goals" (https://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/j.veit-wilson/documents/humandignityespa2004.pdf). This applies also to the sensory field in society and first of all at school. We aim to help students become aware of all the possibilities they can exploit to create real inclusion at multiple levels. Every summer I organize researching camps (expeditions) to my older students and this is my closest event now. The expedition is on preparation stage now (money, agreements, program etc). In the middle of June we'll open out tents camp in amazing corner of Lithuania, on the plot of the museum, which content is related to very specific history of western part of my country. Part, which didn't belong to Lithuania for centuries, but there were printed books on Lithuanian language and secretly, in smuggling way were transported to Lithuania. Why? It was the time, when Lithuania was incorporated to Russian Empire, when press on native language was forbiden in Lithuania (1864-1904). Under the ban, it was illegal to print, import, distribute, or possess any publications in the Latin alphabet. Lithuanian book smugglers smuggled illegal books and periodicals across the border (German-Russia Empire). The Lithuanian historians have described the ban as a test of the concept of Lithuania: had there been no resistance, the language would have become a historical footnote, and the modern nation would never have been created. It is highly important fact of Lithuanian history. In 2004, the 100th anniversary of the ban's end was noted in UNESCO's events calendar.
Thus a very rich exposition of the museum, an interesting practical process when students have the opportunity to "feel" how paper or book was produced, as well volunteer work in the museum and in the nearby historical burial ground where famous people are burried, walking trips to get to know historical places and nature, discussions next to bone fire, songs and guitar ... It isn't enough romantics?

The city where our Educational Center is located, Gijón, dates from the 5th century BC. It was a Roman settlement.
However, it must be said that the first testimonies of the presence of man in what we know today as the council of Gijón are located on Mount Deva, where there are a series of burial mounds (primitive burials) and on Mount Areo, where there is a set Neolithic dolmen considered one of the most important of the Cantabrian coast. They are dated in the year 5,000 BC.
This Center, where I work as a professor of History and Religion, has given great importance to Cultural Heritage and has tried at all times to make it known through different visits made by students from the age of five to various places in the Province. and Spain, until they finish their stage at 18 years old.
The last activity in this sense that we have done, has been with students of 14 years. They have been a series of students, following a series of guidelines, which have prepared, presented and commented to the rest of their peers, a series of moumentos dating from the ninth century. Taking advantage of the trip, we were also involved in the Gothic Cathedral of Oviedo and the Holy Ark.
And tomorrow, on the occasion of the study trip, we head to the Science Museum of Valladolid, towards Cuéllar (visit to the Castle and the Mudejar Art Interpretation Center), to the City of Segovia (Palace of the Farm, Cathedral , the Alcázar, Aqueduct ...).

They celebrate on 25 anniversary of reactivation this school after comunism period. During a very superb concert both Slovenian and Polish students will play together Anton Bruckner's Te Deum. This activity for me is simple, once I'm organizing, along with other teachers in my school, "The Evening Adult Education and Training (AET)". This night is the last work by the students of the course, over 18 years old, who, along with their teachers, have to do work related to the European Year of Cultural Heritage and presents them in the Auditorium, to other classes. In this way it creates a unique environment, end of the school year, where all students of different classes, socialize with each other. In my town we have many occasions for performances, festivals of folk culture in which our students take part - either as contestants or as guests. Teachers at our school implement folk elements to performances they annually organize for parents. we are going to put on display the artefacts our grandparents used in their everyday lives in the past - mostly things that are forgotten today with labels explaining what it was used for and teach students folk songs and dances.

I would take my students to the city centre where all the traditional professions exist. During the walk my students would stop and see the professional work and ask questions.
