Young Leo was eager to become a master carpenter. He had watched his grandfather make tables and chairs for years, and now it was his turn to learn. His grandfather, a wise old man, told Leo, "You must master the basics before you can do anything else."

The first day, Leo's task was to polish a set of wooden drawers. His grandfather's rules were clear: "Don't let me see any smudges," he warned. Leo worked tirelessly, pausing only to wipe his brow. He didn't want to fail. He knew it was important to pay attention to every detail.

"Remember to measure twice and cut once," his grandfather would often say. The old man would have Leo help him with simple tasks to build his skill. Once, Leo saw his grandfather repair a broken spindle with such ease that it made Leo want to try it himself. His grandfather let him attempt the repair, and though it wasn't perfect, he knew Leo was ready to move on.

Leo's confidence began to grow. He decided to build a small stool all by himself. He worked late into the night, using his knowledge to create a beautiful piece of furniture. When he was done, he heard his grandfather whistle in approval from the doorway. "I saw you work late," the old man said with a smile. "You will not just be a carpenter. You will be an artist." Leo was proud to hear those words.

The two would often sit together in the evening, with nothing left to do but relax and admire their work. "There is always something more to learn," his grandfather reminded him. "And that is why we will always have work to do."
