I have come to realize that this is a great stepping stone for a dreamer like me. This event is piled on the list of experiences I had. And so, this occurrence made me want to join bigger contests and not only showcase my talent but to learn as well from other people.

Please remember this: Just because we didn’t win doesn’t mean we aren’t excellent. It only means that it isn’t our time yet. A real winner is someone who is able to believe in herself with strength and determination. Winning is not always about getting the title but being able to do our best in everything we do.

God has a better plan always. If it’s not today, maybe tomorrow & someday until we achieve the goal we want for ourselves. Always remember, life is always up to FATE  & FAITH. Don’t give up, keep dreaming & believing.

For a young girl like me, I needed to be focused and determined in achieving a fit body for the contest. I started losing weight for a half and a month before the contest. I did the so called apple diet. I only eat an apple in the morning and another one in the evening. Sometimes, I eat a small portion of rice. The drinks I’m allowed to have are mostly water and milk. It was really a hard time for me but I knew it was worth it. Even when my friends would ask me to eat somewhere, I have to decline because it will ruin my diet. I always bring apple whenever we have a practice in JAMS and that’s where they started calling me “Mansanas girl”. I just got used to it. If they’re not calling me Mansanas, they’d call me Miley because of my hair. I have always wanted to have a white blonde hair but I couldn’t achieve it so I kept on coloring it. Thank God, it turned out well. It screamed independence. However, I got scared because I’ve never been this far from my family. In outdoor photo shoots, we get to go out to different places Sir Joel Cruz, the owner of Aficionado Company, picked for us. The first place we went to and the most memorable one was in Sir Joel’s house in Baguio: the white mansion lord of scents. It took a lot of time for the pain to subside. They said winning isn’t everything but not getting the title took a toll on me. My confidence got lower. It felt like every opportunity that comes to me, life finds a way to ruin it. I did everything but it’s just wasn’t enough. Yep, so much more for proving myself to other people… I’ll never win.

A year after, my followers started tagging me on this modelling contest. Finally, my confidence boosted. It wasn’t just the people, it was my heart telling me to join and so I did. I went to the JAMS office albeit I was really nervous to join a contest as big as this, I am decided. I went there with my mom. The line for registering was so long but that’s how it is anyway. We should be patient and work hard so we can achieve the things we want in life. And so nothing could stop me. I feel empowered. Finally, it’s my time to showcase my walk. We also had photo shoots. After that, I waited for the announcement and yay, I got in!!!! It was such a fun experience for me because I think this is another step in achieving my dreams.
