To do so, I will use words like how, why, where, tell me more, what, and more in conversations with my peers. I will attempt to do this three times a week. When doing this, I will write down on a notes page what reflective words I used, and reflect on how my phrasing was. I will work on this goal until the end of the summer semester.

I found that I identified the most with this test. I scored as a primary gold and a secondary blue. As a gold, it means I am a person who values being organized and enjoys rules and structure. It also explains that I occasionally suffer from self-pity, worry, and tend to go along with a group rather than have my thoughts. As a leader, I tend to have high expectations from my group members and I try to organize worksheets or roles of the group. I tend to strulge with adapting to change or new situations, but it is something I have been trying to improve upon within the last couple of years.

My top 5 traits, starting with number 1 are prudence, fairness, kindness, leadership, and teamwork. Prudence goes well with my gold result in the color test. It means being careful of one's choices. I believe this is a strength and weakness of mine. It helps me ensure I am not to say things that could offend an individual or make a mistake, but it keeps me from trying new things and branching out. Leadership and teamwork are perfect strengths to work together. These entail working well with the group by doing one's share, being loyal, and having good organization.

I agree with how my Big 5 assessment scored me. Maybe it's because I scored high in agreeableness, and I believe every assessment was accurate one way or another. This assessment gave me a high rating in neuroticism, meaning I worry often. This relates well with my color analysis of being a gold. I was surprised to see my extraversion has increased. I took this assessment in undergrad once and my extraversion was around 15.

My areas for improvement within the Froehlich reflection are keeping my mind free of distractions while listening and being aware of body language while listening. Both of these qualities are similar in the sense that they showcase how I struggle with listening to conversations. I tend to not have the most professional body language and I believe that is something I can improve upon while at school. However, I was surprised to see that my highest scoring category was maintaining focus when listening to an individual who is upset. In a way, I was happy to see this, knowing that I can focus if I understand that someone may need help or even just someone to listen to them. I need to incorporate my listening skills from this to my weaknesses.

This assessment was both surprising and not at the same time. I was shocked to see a 0 in collaborating. My VA assessment mentioned that when part of a team, I do well with communicating. However, this assessment showcases the opposite. I feel this does not accurately describe me, as I feel like I am a good collaborator. I always want to hear every side of the story and enjoy receiving feedback. I am not surprised by my high score in empathizing. I believe this skill is one of the most valuable ones to have as any health professional. Without it, one may view their patient as "just another number" which is something I would never dream of doing.

I believe I somewhat met this goal. I worked on not pre-planning my responses but I did not do it three times a week. I also forgot that I would keep a list on my phone of when I practiced. Reflecting on this goal actually makes me happy that I did not keep track, because then I would be pre-planning to not pre-plan responses. The goal is still important to me, but I am not sure if I need to practice it anymore because I feel like I no longer really do this. A new goal I would make for myself would be for the entirety of the fall semester to independently start conversations with people I do not know well at least once a week to work on being in uncomfortable situations and check off a list that I keep next to my bed at the end of the week to see if I did it.

This goal was also somewhat met. I used reflective statements in conversation and it has become almost natural for me now. However, I did not technically meet my goal because I did not write anything down. I believe writing information down was an unrealistic goal for me because I was so occupied with schoolwork, and the reflective statements would come naturally that I didn't even think about having to write them down. I believe I could work on my statements more than my reflective questions. A new goal would be to independently focus on saying more reflective listening statements in conversation at least 2 times a week during the fall semester. Maybe instead of writing down what I said, I could make a checklist in my room next to my bed to check off if I did this.

When I am looking for a place of employment, I want to ensure I am working on an interprofessional team with other healthcare professionals to learn about different perspectives to find the best option for a patient. To do this, I will look for a clinic that offers a team approach and be sure to ask in interviews how they work together to help a client. I will do this independently and within the time frame of the next couple years.

Within classes, I want to become less of a conformist follower. My goal is to independently actively participate in small group discussions by being the first to share my opinion once a week throughout the semester. I will also keep a checklist in my room for this goal for every week.

During the fall semester, I will independently become involved in at least three community outreach opportunities to practice advocating and promoting the field of occupational therapy, as well as skills of working on a small team. I will keep track by writing down the experiences I sign up for and write down what I learned from them.

As an occupational therapist, I will be a member of AOTA, MEOTA, or another group depending on my location to learn from therapists in the field how to better my leadership and advocacy skills. To do this, I will independently choose just one to sign up for, for a yearly membership.
