         <description><![CDATA[<div>The <strong>Ulster volunteers</strong> formed and armed militia which caused Irish nationalists to form the Irish volunteers. Conflict between these groups progressed in early 1914 because of Home Rule. The war impermanently moderated the crisis.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>John Redmond</strong>, Irish Parliamentary Party leader, followed suit of Edward Carson and encouraged Irish volunteers to enlist in existing Irish regiments in the British army in September 1914. Some volunteers and the Irish Republican Brotherhood opposed enlistment and planned an insurrection against British rule. </div>]]></description>

Patrick Pearse read a <strong>proclamation of independence and the formation of the Republic of Ireland</strong>. A battle ensued between the Irish rebels and the British. This event is known as the Easter rising.</div>]]></description>

A lot of damage was done to the <strong>buildings of Dublin</strong> and many civilians sided with the British. Due to the British wrongly accusing Sinn Fein for the Easter Rising, Sinn Fein candidates were favoured. </div>]]></description>
