We provide a free counselling service for people between the ages of 12-21 who live, work or study in North East Edinburgh. Young people can receive up to 20 confidential counselling sessions. We also offer many other 1-1 services including creative express, anxiety management, substance use support sessions and more!

We work in a holistic way to meet the needs of young people and to help them facilitate meaningful change. Young people are at the heart of everything we do. Our decisions and services are therefore responsive to the needs of young people and the wider community.

Multi Cultural Family Base

At Multi Cultural Family Base (MCFB) we work with children and their families who are experiencing difficulties. Some of these are practical, such as housing or financial problems; others are more personal, such as dealing with discrimination or emotional issues.

We offer many different projects and services including: The Mosaic Project, a group project, which aims to promote the mental well-being of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) young people in the North Locality of Edinburgh. The group is co-facilitated by Multi-Cultural Family Base and The Junction offering a service for BAME young people in S2-S6 who identify as experiencing poor mental health, and feel that their cultural needs are not being met by mainstream mental health services or youth agencies.

Citadel Youth Centre

The Citadel Youth Centre offers local children and young people aged 6-18 yrs – and their families – opportunities to have fun, make friends and learn new things in a safe and supportive environment. We are open to any family in Leith but prioritise those experiencing some form of disadvantage.

We offer a variety of services to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing, including our open access Unboxed Club (12-15yrs), targeted Feel Good groups and 1:1 support (12-18yrs).

YMCA Edinburgh provides relationship-focused services to children, young people, and families in Leith and across Edinburgh. We offer a mix of one-to-one support and inclusive group activities designed to promote well-being, confidence, and connection.

Our services include mentoring for 8-14-year-olds, well-being groups, outdoor play, youth sports sessions, the Friday Night Lights youth group, supportive women's groups, and free holiday playschemes for local primary-aged children.

The Ripple Project

The Ripple offers local children & young people aged 6-18yrs a varied programme of play, activities and educational opportunities designed to encourage, develop & reinforce their skills and self image in a safe and supportive environment.

The Ripple Wellbeing group work programme is for young people aged 10-15. We take a family centred approach to our youth work that includes providing assistance with challenges our families are facing.

Pilmeny Development Project

Sometimes it can be good to talk to an adult and other people who are not in your family. They will listen to you and you can do something fun together. As you get to know them you can tell them about your feelings, worries and things that are going on in your life. It is good to have different people in your life you can talk to. Our girls’ group is open to girls aged 9 to 16 years.

Pilmeny Development Project provides 1:1 support to children aged 7-12 and their families in the Leith Walk area, who are experiencing mental health and wellbeing issues.

In partnership with YMCA we also run a Girls Emotional Health and Wellbeing Group for girls who are 12 - 16. The group is a supportive and safe space to build friendship and focuses on emotional and physical health and well-being. We offer 1-1 support and mentoring for young people anxious about attending or those who may need extra support.
