The most impactful issues for me is Malaysian law uses the federal constitutional legal system enacted by the British and at the same time oppresses Islamic law and ignores Islamic rights that should be practiced. This is because this issue raises awareness that Islam in Malaysia is increasingly oppressed and abandoned. When we look at the position of the courts in Malaysia, the Syariah courts are in the lowest position and have minority powers compared to other courts. For example, Berita Harian 25 February 2021 reported that the President of the Malaysian Syariah Lawyers Association (PGSM) Musa Awang stated that the federal court ruled that the state law of Selangor did not have the power to enact laws making unnatural sex a crime. He also stated that the State Legislature does not have the power to enact provisions on Syariah criminal offenses if there is a similar provision in federal laws enacted by parliament. Among the actions I took is to read the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an and delve into the verses of the Qur'an on Islamic law or Islamic governance and practice in daily life.

the most impactful point to me until what I have learnt until week 8 is about supply chain. When the teacher taught about supply chain, I realized that system thinking was applied. As we know that system thinking is the way we think as a whole. For example in class, I learnt about mica mining and the supply chain and from that I know the process from the start which is mica mining until the end which is the consumer. Other than that, I know about the markup price happen because of the supply chain, corruption that happen and child abuse.

Before I learn about supply chain, I never take port about other business that is not related unless it is related to myself. For example, I never know about the truth behind the beauty industry where there are a lot of people surviving and oppressed by other people and only take care of my family and my studies without thinking about others.

After class, I realized that I need to think as a whole to look at a big picture what happen to the reality. Even teacher said in class, doesn’t mean I’m a language student I don’t need to know about other aspects such as economy or politics. At last, I think what is the benefit of being selfish while other people are still surviving? Are there any goods for being selfish? So I need to change my attitude to be a good person and connected my life to everything and look at the big picture. Even islam ask us to not be selfish.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessing be upon him) observed: You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum. (sahih muslim, hadith:203)

Even in this verse of hadith, Rasulullah SAW said that we can’t even go to paradise if we do not love one another. If we keep being selfish, that means we are not love one another.

Lastly from this learning, I did some research about happen in reality behind good products because we know behind a good product or brand there is a dark side. For example, I watched a video about documentary of the dark side of chocolate where there is child abuse also happen same as mica mining. The children in Africa need to pluck coco and work 7 hours per day, 7 days a week to help their parents get some money. They even said that if they are not working, their parents will not feed them. This is so sad to be heard and I should be grateful for what I have right now :)
