- to retell an Irish mythical story of choice through the use of digital storytelling.

-Present and communicate story using their own words written on a storyboard.

-Design puppets and props to be used in digital video.

Resources Needed: puppets, lollipop sticks, ipad for each group, Adobe Spark app, 

-To initiate children's interest, I will brainstorm with the class the different Irish myths known to them, We will discuss features of myths and their importance within the telling of its story i.e. fictional and believable elements.

- The children will be placed in teams of three (of mixed ability) where they will be assigned different roles i.e. reader, scribe, artist. Each group will be given a different myth to read. They will read it first to understand the story and then read it again a second time using the comprehension strategy 'Determining Importance'. They will underline the most important parts of the myth that they will use to help them when writing their storyboard.

- Children will be given a storyboard template. On these, they will rewrite their myths using their own words, using the important sentences they underlined as a guide. Children will given a self assessment list to keep them on track when writing their storyboards. Teacher will assess the quality of the storyboard. Once approved, children will design puppets and props associated with their mythical story.

-Children will use ipads and Adobe Spark to create a motion story using their puppets and props. On completion, each group will present their story to the class. Discussion and feedback within the class will follow after the viewing.

Hi Ann,

I like how the maths trail is thought out and designed by the children themselves. This would definitely allow for great peer assessment and also for self-assessment of one's own work. The development of a maths trail for a younger age group is a great idea. This gives the senior classes a great role of responsible and puts the child in the centre of their own learning. I'd imagine the children would be much more driven in the tasks when it is designed for an audience.

I did project work on Australia during the year and this Learning Path would have been such an addition to the children's learning! I like how each group has a website to explore-this keeps them focused and draws in their attention to the main points of their project. I think this lesson would work really well and would definitely try it out the next time I'm doing a SESE project.

ePortfolio apps- Google Drive, Mahara, Office 365, Google Classroom

ePortfolio use is something I will definitely be trying out in September. I enjoyed the PDST art lesson using ePortfolios and would be enthusiastic about introducing ICT assessment in the Visual Arts subjects consequently. 

In future, I will cite and credit any content that contains copyright.
I will use the filter feature on Google to find age-appropriate content that can be used in the classroom avoiding infringement
