Both compare and contrast skills will support analyzing and interpreting data, which is the data of the rocks and fossils the students chose and talk about(SEP)

Would include physical sedimentary rock

Would include physical metamorphic rock

Would include physical igneous rock

Can understand the causes of weathering and what the effects are on rocks and how that might change what they look like (cross-cutting concepts)

I would include a physical example of cementation

Our class learning about soil

Can introduce Earth's Place in the Universe by understanding soil, its components, its location and how it is created. (DCI)

Each type of rock can contribute to the Cause & Effect cross-cutting concept by learning about how each type is created.
