Modern technology is mass communication in order to spread propaganda. It also included the creation of advanced military weapons. Stalin began the use of propaganda and censorship. His government controlled all newspapers, motion pictures, radio, and other sources of information. Stalin would not tolerate individual creativity that did not promote the views of the state as many Soviet writers, composers, and other artists fell victim to official censorship. Soviet radio broadcast and newspapers praise the achievement of communism, Stalin, and his economic programs.

The methods of enforcement were police terror, indoctrination, censorship and persecution. To maintain his power, Stalin built a police state. His secret police used tanks and armored to cars to stop riots. They monitor telephone lines, read mail, and planted informers everywhere. Children told authorities about disloyal mentions that they heard at home so many families feared knocks on their doors in early morning hours as it usually meant that arrest was going to be made. Millions of so-called traitors were arrested and executed by the secret police state.

The state control of individuals demands loyalty and expects personal sacrifice for the good of the state. Also it denies the basic liberties. Stalin’s economic plans created a high demand for many skilled workers. Women’s roles expanded greatly as people became better educated and mastered new technical skills. Soviet citizens found that their lives came at a great cost as reat cost as personal freedoms were limited, consumer goods were in short supply, and dissent was prohibited.

There is a church in the background with a red start at the point of it.
3. Stalin is smiling towards the children but he isn’t physically there. It seems as if he was a god.

Message:
I think that the message behind this propaganda poster is that the children are bringing offerings to Stalin, which are the flowers, but the flowers won’t reach Stalin so the would remain purely symbolic. The children are saluting Stalin. He is like a symbolic father offering protection and benefaction from afar which makes the Russians believe that he is a good leader.

Stalin took control over food production for the state because he wanted Russia to industrialize. Stalin wanted to boost agricultural production through the organization of land and labor into large-scale collective farms. The “five year plan” was used to force the country to down the agricultural development. Stalin created collective farms which are farms that are owned by the government and produces products for the state. Although collective farms did help the state, it brought anger to the people. Peasants were mainly forced to work at the collective farms and millions of them would die. They began protesting and destroying collective farms.
