During the process, they were mistreated and disrespected. It is hard to think about the fact that these people had to go through an inspection just to have a better life. This was because the government feared  they would spread their “illness” or possibly taking jobs from their citizens. Those who did not pass went back home. Not only did these people have to pass health inspections, but literacy tests as well. To me, not only is it upsetting that these people could have the opportunity to better themselves, but what about the other family members that did pass inspection and were able to go to the US. This means that families were torn apart. In “Ten Myths About Immigration” is states, “Across all industries and occupations, though, immigrants who are naturalized citizens and non- citizens are outnumbered by workers born in the US.” These people are not coming to purposely take jobs from others.
