Statement: Capital Punishment should be abolished

=> Disagree

Plan:

1st point: Make sure that the lawbreakers cannot commit crimes again

2nd point: Proper consequence for what they have done

3rd point: Deterrent penalty => warn each other

Since the Eighteenth Century B.C, the penalty for several serious crimes has always been death. With the growth of human society, there begin to have some controversial opinions about this matter. Some people oppose this punishment. However, I strongly believe that the death penalty is crucial for every country to handle the crime rates.

There are three main statements that can emphasize the importance of capital punishment in today's world. Firstly, it prevents the lawbreakers from committing the crimes again. For murderers, drug dealers, or terrorists, their sins seem to be parts of their personalities. Nothing is ensured what will happen after their prison terms. To support this point, in a 9-year study period, 83% of state prisoners are re-arrested, which is an incredibly high figure. Secondly, the death penalty is the appropriate consequence for what criminals have done. It seems to be unfair when the cost of a victim’s life for the killer is just 20 years living in the prison and then release freely. Last but not least, this form of punishment is deterrent enough to warn others with negative intentions. To explain further, drug smuggling can earn much more remuneration than office salary. As a result, it may attract excessive unemployed workers if it does not have a severe penalty for that crime.

To conclude, capital punishment is considered inhumane and cruel. However, we have to exchange that for the security of society from the threat of criminals.

Since the early days of humanity, those who had disobeyed the laws would be executed for their crimes and to this day, it is still happening. Many people have raised their concerns on the matter and they believe that this form of punishment should be removed from the law. I wholeheartedly support this opinion, and I will be elaborating my point of view in this essay.

For one, capital punishment does not improve society. There is no evidence to prove that states or countries that allow death penalty have lower crime rates than those that don’t. The government cannot make the people obey the laws by removing rule breakers by force, but what they should do is dig to the roots of the problems. Solutions cannot be found if it is not clear what the causes are. In other words, capital punishment is like treating the symptoms instead of treating the causes of a disease. It does not stop the disease nor prevent it from spreading, all it does is getting rid of the temporary issues. Listening to the citizens’ struggles and trying to make a change for that is what that would bring down the crime rates. Many criminals have to commit crimes to survive in an unjust society where their choices in life are limited and they have to do anything to live. While crime is still not the answer, it is hard to blame them when they are struggling so bad just to take care of themselves and their loved ones, and when that is still happening then the government has failed their people as leaders. Then, isn’t death penalty just another way for them to hide away and avoid facing the consequences of their failure?

Another thing to consider is that capital punishment can be used unfairly. In places where there are severe issues with inequality, the law can take an advantage of this punishment to kill off accused criminals based only on their races, their beliefs, their genders or sexualities and their disabilities. In June 1944, an African American 14-year-old boy, named George Junius Stinney Jr, was electrocuted for a crime that was not his to begin with: he was accused of murder on two white girls, which was proved to be untrue in 2014. Clearly, the only reason George was executed was because he was a black person in a racist society. More over, the ones that are privileged are getting away with little to no punishments for severe crimes. In 2014, 40-year-old Aura Rosser, a black woman in Michigan, was shot by officer David Ried when her boyfriend called 911 to escort her out of the house due to an altercation. The police reported that the victim had like these, only the unpriviledged face death penalty, while the rest gets away with dirty hands. refused to drop the knife she was holding. Nevertheless, it was still murder, and officer Ried had gotten off without any punishments for his action. In situations like these, only the unprivileged gets death sentenced, while the rest can get away with dirt on their hands.

Last but not least, capital punishment is inhumane. Its methods, which includes hanging, the gas chamber, electrocution, shooting and lethal injection, are all torturous and therefore cruel. It is often argued that lethal injection, a widely-used method, is m

Killing a dangerous criminal might be considered too harsh and inhumane. Still, this punishment is needed to deter criminals and to take appropriate action. From that, I feel contradict with the topic that capital punishment should be abolished.
Some criminals are carrying themselves with dangerous charges as serial killing, sexual abuse,... Those charges were cruel and much more inhumane than what people would say about capital punishment. The consequences of what happened would shatter families and friends, create a miserable memory for anyone who has to overcome it. Because of all the outcomes, we would all easily agree that capital punishment is needed as a strong execution to bring more discipline and detain any thoughts on attempting such crime ever again.
To prove that such punishment is right requires more than just one reason, therefore, criminal treatments should also be engaged with this issue. Treating the number of inmates costs money, and getting economic resources is difficult for a place like a prison. Especially when some "special" criminal has to go through imprisonment, that money isn't going to drop. Hence, capital punishment needs to be in charge more of these situations, since prisoners are committing a serious crime, and they do not deserve to have a place they could enjoy after committing such sins, also it would be a solution on saving money for other purposes in prison.
In drawing things to a close, committing a crime is what we all wanted to stay away from, therefore having capital punishment as the final draw is perfect to deter all criminals and also creating benefits for the prison. Only when the crime evaporates in such a harsh way, people would learn to deal with things with their best behavior.

The Capital Punishment has been existing in the Criminal Law for thousands of years in history since the formation of the country, when the law was not written until nowadays.

Under the laws, the death penalty was considered not only a symbol of the state's authority but also a means of revenge for the victim by the country laws towards the criminal in the form of "An eye for an eye". This does not only help the victim’s relative to feel better but also emphasize the fact that the government always be in the innocent’s side and that they have no hesitant punishing the criminal in a serious way, which will reduce the amount of criminal.

More over, if we let people that only commit crime only because of economy and life problem survive and help them, they might improve and stop doing it but there’re people who have been a demon at the time they was born they might commit crimes again. If we kill them, they can’t commit any more crimes and make society a bit more safety. Not only does this improves the safetiness of the country but also reduces the amount of humans which could benefits the earth in many ways.

All in all, even though capital punishment seems rough and ruthless but Its benefits are huge and should not be forbidden
