However, in response to the article, I have to say that it is impossible to change the past. Living in the past is a good way to drive yourself insane. Additionally, it is important to realize that the ordinary citizens and politicians of the U.S. sponsor war with our votes and policies. In a way, we have all killed as a result of our actions. We as people should do better, but it is impossible to change the past and act as if the atrocities we committed did not happen. Soldiers are put into difficult situations where they are forced to make difficult choices, they may not have a choice at all. There are several stories about soldiers having to watch others die while they were unable to do anything. For example, say your a soldier and your trying to save a civilian that has been forced to wear a vest with bombs strapped to it, and you don't have enough time to get it off, you have to let the innocent person die.
