OLIVER I infer that the main character is Mac but he is helped by some important characters like Vince and Joe. Because the story is told from Mac's perspective and it is all about him.

OLIVER I infer that the bullies that Mac hires are not important characters because they act like a gateway for change but they do not actually deal out change. They can help change with somebody else but on their own they cannot.

BEN I infer that Vince's family is very poor because they live in a trailer park known for drugs and violence now but it did not used to.
