Depreciation is an important subject in financial accounting. It can be defined as an allocation of the decreased amount of a tangible non-current asset over its useful life under the accrual basis. For example, for a machine with a cost of 10 thousand pounds, assume that it can be used for 5 years with a scrap value of 2 thousand pounds, 1.6 thousand pounds will be entered in the credit side of accumulated depreciation account and the debit side of depreciation expense account every year . Through the calculation of depreciation, we can get the net book value of a non-current asset, which equals to the amount of cost minus the accumulated depreciation. In other words, depreciation reflect the used-up value of a non-current asset. In brief, the calculation of depreciation shows the accuracy of accounting, which also is the requirement of IAS.

In 1952, Harry Markowitz first introduced the basis of portfolio theory. Basically, explained by the risk-reducing effect of apportioning investment across a set of assets, his theory considers that in a portfolio, the unanticipated bad news and good ones to one company can compensate each other. The portfolios giving the best returns in a certain risk level can be found according to the tools given by Markowitz. Then investors can choose the best risk return exchange, relying on the extent to which they want to avoid the risk.

From the perspective of whole society, the equality and quality of life is more important than economic and technical growth. The unprecedented productivity generated by capitalism has led to huge economic and technological growth, which improved the living quality of most people. Wherever and whenever capitalism took hold, people's income and consumption levels began to rise in a sustainable way, as stated by Bowles, Edwards and Roosevelt (2005, p.8). Although this is true from the average level, the economic and technical growth may not be equal to an improvement of the living condition of whole society. One view is that the source of this growth was the ability of capitalists to exploit their workers and as growth and wealth increased the conditions of workers would deteriorate (Wetherly and Otter, 2011, p.341). The obvious growth of life quality may concentrate among the upper class, not the whole society. Since the ultimate goal of growth in economic and technology is to serve the needs of humans' life quality, it is more important to consider how to take advantage of this growth to benefit the whole society rather than focusing on the growth itself.

Large amounts of business trade requires for a fast flow of information. If ancient communication had been used to satisfy the modern needs, large pollution would have been caused, since the medium of these communications is transportation tools, which may damage the environment. Therefore, the advent of telecommunication network eliminated this possible negative influence and relieved the human pressure on environment. This essay will look at the negative influence of human activity on environment first, followed by an analysis of the positive impact of telecommunications.

This semester, I learned about how to make a WeChat Push. WeChat push is a way of passing information through WeChat Official Account, which is decorated with colorful words, different kinds of text boxes and pictures and photos about the topic. To make a satisfactory push, firstly, we should prepare the transcript and pictures, since they are the essential content of the push. Then, the material should be organized in a proper way. Different official account may have different styles of push. Some are beautifully decorated, while some are simple but neat. After a basic idea of the push, we should put the words and pictures in it with cautious. Adjustment also costs much time, especially to the decorating patterns. Once I spend half an hour looking for the proper color for the patterns.

This semester I put more effort into the expansion of my vocabulary, since it is of great importance to my language expression and comprehension. Instead of using a word learning application called 'Baicizhan' as I used to do, I use another method after reflection on my previous way of reciting words. Before, I paid too much attention on efficiency, and always tried to command more words in a certian time. As a result, I just remember a little, though I went through many words. The problem lay on the lack of repeat. Repeat is of due importance if we want to have a deep memory of what we learned. In study process, it is called 'review'. According to my knowledge of brain, the memory of what we learned has a sharp decline in 72 hours, and we may just remember less than a quarter after a week. Therefore, an effective review should be in time. Now, I use words lists to reciting words. When I recite a word, I list it on my note. Each note contains the words I learned in a day, each of them will be review on the next day and the third day. I hope this method can have a better outcome.

I have been learning about Business Technology (BT), a foundation course of ACCA recently.

It is about the broad and basic knowledge of business. Firstly, I learned about the structure about organization. According to what I've learned, organization can be classified into different types. For example, there are profit-orientated organization and non-profit orientated business, and business belongs to the non-profit orientated category. Now I am learning about business environmental analysis under micro-economic and macro-economic, such as the relationship between supply and demand. Since I already learned about basic knowledge in economic, this part is relatively easy to learn. I hope I can learn more new and useful knowledge in the future, and the process of learning ACCA is a prolonged propcess which requires diligence and persistence.

When I am writing paragraphs, one common problem occurring frequently is grammar usage. Sometimes when I try to write some sentences, a vague understanding of grammar usage makes it difficult for me to do that. They are representatives of the masses and treasures bred by nature.
Zweig's "When the Stars Shine" records the hero's flash across the night sky of history.Whether they succeed or not, the 12 characters in the book are all heroes.
Heroes can move history, but heroes are born of history.Goethe compared history to "God's magic workshop". If the masses are the numerous works supporting this workshop, the hero is the most representative work in these works of different periods. The museum has its treasures, heroes are also the concentration, refraction and symbol of history.Their ideological ability and spiritual quality, on the one hand, come from their private living environment, but to a large extent, they are determined by the era in which they live, and are constantly changed by the atmosphere of the era.
Heroes are the title of the later generations, before this, they are also the masses, and their inner light is inspired, perhaps is a special period of short and concentrated moment.Like an overcast summer day, when the air is stifling and sultry, lightning fills a corner of the sky, unleashing its pent-up energy.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro is one of Ernest Hemingway's most popular short stories. The novel is full of introspection, reflection and regret for the lost life, as well as trembling and anger for the approaching death and hope for the return of the soul after death. With the help of symbolism, the author vividly describes how the hero looks back on the past and understands life when facing death: Fed up with the destruction of life, fear of death, anxiety and anger until the final detachment, guide people to reflect on the past experiences and the meaning of life, this is not a physiological or pathological process of death, but harry the eternal proposition for survival and death thinking and the process of gradually into understanding.

Excellent work! Well done! You have clearly addressed all three parts of the padlet requirements: to cover main tasks, add reflection and self-study tasks. It's also very well organised and demonstrates quite a wide range of learning especially in the independent task you've selected. Well done, again!
