In Islam, adab refers to the proper manners, respect, and ethics that should be observed while seeking knowledge. The key principles of adab in learning emphasize:

1. Sincerity: Knowledge should be pursued with the intention of pleasing Allah, rather than for personal gain or fame.

2. Humility: A seeker of knowledge should remain humble, recognizing that there is always more to learn and that no one has complete knowledge except Allah.

3. Patience: The process of learning requires dedication and patience. Knowledge is gained over time, and setbacks or difficulties are part of the journey.

4. Respect for Teachers: Teachers and scholars should be respected for their knowledge and wisdom, and their guidance should be followed diligently.

5. Seeking Knowledge Continuously: Seeking knowledge is a lifelong journey, and one should be committed to learning continuously in all stages of life.

6. Applying Knowledge: The ultimate goal of acquiring knowledge is to act upon it in one’s life and share it with others to benefit society.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized these values in his teachings, urging believers to seek knowledge and to respect the scholars and the process of learning.

The Quran as a Book of Guidance:

The Quran is regarded by Muslims as the final and most complete book of guidance sent by Allah to humanity. It provides:

1. Spiritual Guidance: The Quran serves as a guide for worship, establishing a direct connection with Allah, and offering solutions to both individual and societal issues.

2. Moral and Ethical Teachings: It outlines the values of justice, honesty, kindness, and compassion. Muslims are encouraged to live according to the moral standards set in the Quran, helping to promote peace and harmony.

3. Social and Legal Principles: The Quran provides instructions on marriage, inheritance, family relationships, and social justice, giving Muslims a framework for organizing their lives in accordance with divine will.

4. Divine Wisdom: It teaches about the oneness of Allah (Tawhid), the Day of Judgment, and the importance of submission to Allah’s will. It encourages reflection on the signs of creation as evidence of Allah’s existence and power.

5. A Source of Healing and Comfort: The Quran offers comfort to believers in times of difficulty, guiding them toward faith, patience, and trust in Allah’s plan. It is considered a source of healing for physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments.

6. Universal Guidance: Though revealed over 1,400 years ago, the Quran’s wisdom is timeless and applicable to every aspect of human life, providing guidance that transcends time and place.

In essence, the Quran not only offers spiritual and religious direction but also helps shape the way Muslims live their daily lives in alignment with Allah's will. It is a comprehensive source of both material and spiritual guidance for humanity.

Here is a summary of the hadith:

One day, Jibril appeared before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the form of a man, dressed in white clothes and with very dark hair, which made him appear unusual. He approached the Prophet and his companions and sat down directly in front of him, asking a series of questions.

The Key Questions:

Jibril asked three main questions to the Prophet (peace be upon him), which form the foundation of this hadith:

1. What is Islam?
   The Prophet (peace be upon him) responded by outlining the five pillars of Islam:

   • Shahada (Faith): Testifying that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger.

   • Salah (Prayer): Performing the five daily prayers.

   • Zakat (Charity): Giving alms to the poor.

   • Sawm (Fasting): Fasting during the month of Ramadan.

   • Hajj (Pilgrimage): Performing the pilgrimage to Mecca if one is able.

2. What is Iman (Faith)?
   The Prophet (peace be upon him) then explained the six articles of faith that a Muslim must believe in:

   • Belief in Allah (God).

   • Belief in the angels.

   • Belief in the holy books (including the Torah, Psalms, Gospel, and Quran).

   • Belief in the messengers sent by Allah.

   • Belief in the Day of Judgment.

   • Belief in Qadar (Divine Decree), that all that happens is by the will of Allah.

3. What is Ihsan (Excellence)?
   The Prophet (peace be upon him) described Ihsan as worshipping Allah as if one sees Him, and if not, then knowing that Allah sees them. It refers to doing acts of worship and good deeds with the highest level of sincerity, devotion, and excellence.

The Final Question – The Hour (Day of Judgment):

Jibril also asked about the coming of the Hour (the Day of Judgment), but the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied that only Allah knows when it will occur. Jibril then departed, and the companions were left wondering about the mysterious visitor.

The Significance of the Hadith:

The Hadith of Jibril serves as a concise summary of the essentials of the Islamic faith. It encapsulates the basic tenets of Islam, Iman, and Ihsan, providing a clear framework for both spiritual belief and practical conduct in the life of a Muslim. This hadith is also significant because it emphasizes the importance of sincerity and excellence in worship and actions, as well as the fact that faith is not only about outward actions but also about the inner state of sincerity and devotion to Allah.

It is often studied by scholars and Muslims seeking to understand the core principles of Islam in a clear and structured manner.

The foundation of Iman is the belief in the Oneness of Allah (Tawhid). This means that Allah is the only true God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and everything in existence. Muslims believe that Allah is unique and has no partners, no children, and no equals. He is beyond human comprehension but is close to His creation, hearing and seeing all things. Belief in Allah also entails submission to His will and recognizing His sovereignty over all aspects of life. His names and attributes, which reflect His perfection, are described in the Quran, and worship should be dedicated only to Him.

2. Belief in Malaikah (Angels):

Muslims believe in the existence of Malaikah (angels), who are spiritual beings created by Allah from light. Angels are honorable and obedient servants of Allah, who carry out His commands and are not free to act independently. They have various duties, such as delivering revelation, recording the deeds of humans, guarding and protecting individuals, and administering natural phenomena. The belief in angels strengthens the faith of Muslims by reminding them that Allah’s creation is vast and beyond human perception, and angels act as intermediaries in many aspects of divine governance. The most well-known angels include Jibril, who brought the revelations to the prophets, and Mikail, who is responsible for sustenance.

3. Belief in Kutub (THE BOOKS):

The belief in Kutub refers to believing in the holy books that Allah revealed to His messengers as a guidance for humanity. Muslims believe that Allah sent down scriptures to different prophets throughout history to guide people to the truth. The primary books mentioned in the Quran include:

• The Taurah (given to Prophet Musa A.S),

• The Zabur (given to Prophet Daud A.S),

• The Injil (given to Prophet Isa A.S.),

• The Quran (revealed to Prophet Muhammad S.A.W., peace be upon him, as the final and complete revelation).

These books contain divine wisdom and guidance, but we believed that the previous scriptures were either altered or lost over time, while the Quran is preserved in its original form as the ultimate and final book of guidance for humanity.

Conclusion:

Belief in Allah, the angels (Malaikah), and the revealed scriptures (Kutub) is an essential part of Iman in Islam. It connects Muslims to a deep understanding of the nature of Allah, His messengers, and the role of divine guidance in their lives. These beliefs form the core of a Muslim's faith, reminding them of the unseen world, the importance of obedience to Allah, and the necessity of following the guidance He has provided through His books and messengers.

Belief in Allah, Malaikah and kutub are important to all muslims since it does affect someone's Imaan. We'll learn another 3 pillars of Imaan within the next 2 weeks so stay tuned!

We believed that these prophets were infallible in their duty to deliver Allah’s message and serve as models of virtue. Their role was to guide humanity in worshiping Allah and living according to His will. Belief in the prophets and messengers is central to Islam, as it confirms the chain of divine guidance provided throughout history to lead people toward truth and righteousness.

2. Belief in Qiyamah (The Day of Judgment):

Qiyamah refers to the belief in the Day of Judgment, when every individual will be resurrected and held accountable for their deeds. Muslims believe that after death, everyone will be judged by Allah based on their actions, faith, and intentions. Those who followed Allah’s guidance and lived righteous lives will be rewarded with eternal paradise (Jannah), while those who rejected His guidance and lived in disobedience will be punished in hell (Jahannam).

The Day of Judgment is a central tenet in Islam, emphasizing the concepts of justice, accountability, and the transient nature of this world. It serves as a reminder that all actions have consequences and that the ultimate goal of life is to live in accordance with Allah’s commands, with the hope of attaining His mercy and a place in paradise.

3. Belief in Qada' and Qadr (Divine Decree):

Qada' and Qadr refer to Divine Decree—the belief that everything that happens in the universe is according to Allah’s will and plan. Qadr is Allah’s eternal knowledge and will that encompass everything, and Qada' refers to the execution of that will. This means that Allah has preordained everything that occurs in the universe, including human actions, yet humans still have free will to make choices.

Belief in Qada' and Qadr does not negate human responsibility, but it affirms that everything, both good and bad, happens within Allah’s divine wisdom and plan. It teaches Muslims to have trust in Allah’s decisions, to accept both hardships and blessings with patience, and to strive for the best while recognizing that ultimate control belongs to Allah. This belief provides peace of mind, as it reminds Muslims that Allah is always in control, and everything occurs for a reason, even if it may not be immediately clear to them.

Conclusion:

Belief in Rasul and Anbiya' (Prophets and Messengers), Qiyamah (The Day of Judgment), and Qada' and Qadr (Divine Decree) are essential pillars of Iman in Islam. It explores topics related to death, the afterlife, resurrection, the Day of Judgment, and eternal life. In the context of Islam, eschatology addresses the events that will unfold at the end of the world, including the final judgment of all human beings, the resurrection of the dead, and their subsequent reward or punishment in the afterlife.

Eschatology also looks at signs of the end times, such as the appearance of the Mahdi (a savior figure in Islamic belief), the return of Isa, the rise of the (Dajjal), and other significant events that will precede the Day of Judgment.

The main themes of Islamic eschatology include:

1. The Afterlife: The belief in life after death, where individuals will be resurrected and judged based on their deeds.

2. Day of Judgment: A day when all people will stand before Allah and be judged for their actions, resulting in either eternal reward in Jannah (paradise) or punishment in Jahannam (hell).

3. Resurrection: The physical resurrection of all people after death for judgment.

4. Heaven and Hell: The eternal destinations of believers and non-believers, respectively.

In broader religious contexts, eschatology refers to similar concepts in other faiths, addressing questions about the end of the world, the return of a divine figure, and the final fate of human beings.

Ihsan in the Context of Eschatology:

1. Worshipping Allah with Awareness of the Hereafter: The concept of Ihsan is deeply connected to eschatology, particularly the belief in the Day of Judgment. A person who strives for Ihsan is constantly aware that their deeds are being observed by Allah and that they will be held accountable for their actions on the Day of Judgment (Qiyamah). This awareness of accountability motivates a believer to perform acts of worship with excellence, seeking Allah’s pleasure and mercy.

2. The Prophetic Teaching of Jibril (Gabriel): In the Hadith of Jibril, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) defines Ihsan as "to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then know that He sees you." This teaching links Ihsan directly to the belief in the unseen, including the belief in Qiyamah and the fact that Allah is fully aware of every action. The concept of Ihsan enhances a person’s moral and spiritual consciousness, shaping them to act in a way that aligns with the understanding that their deeds will be judged in the afterlife.

3. Excellence and Reward in the Hereafter: Ihsan is not just about the quality of worship in this world; it has profound eschatological implications. Muslims believe that on the Day of Judgment, those who have strived for Ihsan in their actions will be rewarded with the highest places in Jannah (paradise). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that those who exhibit Ihsan will be among the closest to Allah in the afterlife. Therefore, the pursuit of excellence in worship is a means to attain Allah’s pleasure and the eternal rewards of paradise.

4. Moral Purity and Accountability: The connection between Ihsan and eschatology highlights a deeper moral and spiritual purity. Ihsan calls for purity not only in outward acts of worship, like prayer and fasting, but also in inner intentions and sincerity. This purity ensures that a person’s heart and actions are aligned with the will of Allah, making them more likely to be rewarded in the hereafter. In contrast, those who neglect sincerity and perform acts of worship only for show or personal gain will find that their actions hold little value on the Day of Judgment.

5. The Role of Ihsan in Developing a Consciousness of the Hereafter: Practicing Ihsan is a way to cultivate a constant consciousness of the hereafter. Believers who maintain this mindset of excellence in their worship understand that the short life on Earth is a test and a preparation for eternal life. The actions they perform with sincerity and excellence today will affect their standing before Allah on the Day of Judgment. Thus, Ihsan encourages believers to act with integrity, kindness, and consciousness of the eventual return to Allah.

Conclusion:

Ihsan and eschatology are deeply intertwined in Islamic belief. Ihsan, as the pursuit of excellence in worship, is shaped by the awareness of the unseen, including the reality of the Day of Judgment. The believer who strives for Ihsan does so with the understanding that their actions are seen by Allah and will be judged on the Day of Judgment. This leads to a life of sincerity, devotion, and ethical conduct, with the ultimate goal of seeking Allah’s pleasure and eternal reward in the hereafter. Through Ihsan, Muslims are reminded that their deeds today will echo into eternity, influencing their fate on that final day.

There are many versions of eschatology based on each religion. In Islam, there has to be a deeper relationship between Ihsan and Islamic eschatology. May these sharing can add your knowledge about eschatology that might not be familiar by most people. Thank you!

On week 6 of usrah, our class did a role-play regarding adab. We divide by 4 group of 5 members and choose 1 of 4 topics given which is adab towards parents, adab towards neighbours, adab towards society and adab as a student.

Our group had chosen 'adab towards society' as our role-play topic. Me as a facilitator of the usrah class told my members to do a poster via canva together with their group and present it at near the end of the class including my own group.

I want to say thank you so much for your cooperation throughout these 7 weeks of usrah. I know that you have your own hard time especially during the ibadah camp program, lot of our members were facing a hard time to attend the program but at the end you guys managed to attend all the session of ibadah camp which is great! I really love that one side of you guys.

1. Purpose of Ibadah

Ibadah (worship) in Islam encompasses every act done with the intention to please Allah, whether it is ritualsuch as salah and fasting or daily actions like earning a living, helping others, as long as they are done in accordance with divine guidance.

The purpose of ibadah includes:

Fulfillment of Human Purpose:

Allah states in the Qur’an:

"And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me."

(51:56)

Establishing Taqwa (God-consciousness):

Acts of worship develop taqwa, which keeps a believer morally conscious and obedient.

Spiritual Purification:

Worship cleanses the soul, refines behavior, and strengthens the connection with Allah.

Attaining Allah’s Pleasure and Paradise:

The ultimate reward for sincere ibadah is Allah’s mercy and Jannah.

2. Importance of Niyyah (Intention) – Based on Hadith No.1 in Sahih al-Bukhari

The Hadith:

"Actions are (judged) by intentions, and every person will get what he intended. So whoever migrated for Allah and His Messenger, his migration is for Allah and His Messenger. But whoever migrated for some worldly benefit or to marry a woman, then his migration is for what he migrated for."

(Narrated by Umar ibn al-Khattab, Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 1)

Importance:

Foundation of Deeds:

This hadith highlights that the value and acceptance of any action in Islam is directly tied to the intention behind it. Without a sincere niyyah for the sake of Allah, even outwardly good deeds may lack reward.

Inner vs. Outer Actions:

Islam emphasizes both external compliance and internal sincerity. Niyyah purifies the heart and aligns one’s motivations with divine goals.

Applicability Across All Acts:

This hadith is a foundational principle in Islamic fiqh, as scholars say:

“This hadith is one-third of knowledge.”

It is applied in virtually every aspect of ibadah, including salah, fasting, charity, hajj, and even mundane actions like eating or sleeping when done with the right intention.

3. Application of Ibadah According to the Qur’an and Sunnah

To ensure that ibadah is accepted and beneficial, it must be done:

(i) With Sincere Intention/Ikhlas

Qur’an:

“And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion…”

(98:5)

(ii) In Accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever does an action that is not in accordance with our affair (Sunnah), it is rejected.”

(Sahih Muslim)

(iii) Balanced Practice

Worship must not be done in excess or negligence. The Prophet Muhammad SAW extremism in ibadah and emphasized moderation.

(iv) Comprehensive Worship

Ibadah is not limited to rituals. The Qur'an and Sunnah encourage ethical behavior, fulfilling rights, honesty, and service to humanity as acts of worship when done sincerely.

Conclusion

The purpose of ibadah is to realize our purpose in life: serving Allah with sincerity and obedience. The hadith of niyyah underscores the essential role of intention, determining the value of every deed. True ibadah must align both with pure intention (ikhlas) and authentic method (Sunnah). Through such a framework, all aspects of a Muslim's life can become worship, bringing them closer to Allah and ensuring a meaningful, balanced existence in this world and success in the Hereafter.

Alhamdulillah finally we've done with our first lesson, now everyone knows that actually ibadah is the form of blessing from Allah SWT for all of us which is the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad SAW as there are many benefits that we can obtain from just doing ibadah. Let’s explore the hikmah (wisdom) of four major acts of worship, as interpreted from selected ayat through Tafsir al-Azhar:

1. Salah (Prayer) – Surah al- Ankabut (29:45)

"Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do."

Wisdom (Hikmah):

Spiritual Discipline: Buya Hamka emphasizes that salah is not just physical movement but a constant reminder of Allah’s presence. This awareness acts as a deterrent to immoral actions.

Moral Compass: Regular connection with Allah instills a moral consciousness that discourages (indecency) and munkar (evil).

Tazkiyah (Purification): Salah purifies the heart and nurtures inner peace.

Social Harmony: When individuals are morally upright, society becomes more harmonious.

Source of Hikmah:

Buya Hamka explains that zikrullah (remembrance of Allah) is central it outweighs ritual in form and becomes a transformative force in life.

2. Sawm (Fasting) – Surah al-Baqarah (2:183)

"O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous (taqwā).”

Wisdom (Hikmah):

Taqwā (God-consciousness): Fasting teaches self-restraint and heightens awareness of Allah in all actions.

Empathy and Solidarity: Experiencing hunger cultivates empathy for the poor and fosters compassion.

Self-Discipline: Hamka views fasting as a training ground for the soul, teaching patience and control over desires.

Health and Detox: Although secondary, physical benefits are acknowledged as supporting the spiritual goal.

Source of Hikmah:

Buya Hamka stresses the inner purification and development of the soul. Fasting is seen as a tool to discipline the nafs (lower self) and build moral integrity.

3. Zakāh (Almsgiving) – Surah al-Tawbah (9:103)

"Take, [O Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah's blessings] upon them..."

Wisdom (Hikmah):

Tazkiyah Mal wa Nafs: Zakah purifies both the wealth and the soul of the giver.

Social Justice: Redistribution of wealth reduces economic inequality and uplifts the poor.

Gratitude and Humility: It reminds the rich that their wealth is a trust from Allah.

Spiritual Growth: Hamka highlights zakāh as a way to overcome greed and material attachment.

Source of Hikmah:

According to Hamka, zakah is a moral and social reform tool, not just charity. It builds a community based on mutual care and economic balance.

4. Hajj (Pilgrimage) – Surah al-Baqarah (2:197)

"Ḥajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Ḥajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no arguing during Ḥajj..."

Wisdom (Ḥikmah):

Unity and Equality: Pilgrims wear the same clothing and perform the same rituals, emphasizing human equality.

Spiritual Cleansing: Hajj is a journey of the soul, symbolizing death and rebirth in a purified state.

Self-Control: Restrictions during Hajj teach patience, tolerance, and discipline.

Historical Connection: Reenacting Abrahamic legacy reinforces submission to Allah.

Source of Hikmah:

Buya Hamka explains that Hajj is a symbolic journey toward the Creator. The physical hardship reflects the struggle of life, and the rituals represent stages of spiritual awakening.

Conclusion:

The acts of ibadah are means to achieve ḥikmah, not ends in themselves. As interpreted in Tafsir al-Azhar, Buya Hamka stresses:

Worship transforms character.

Rituals must lead to ethical and spiritual betterment.

The Quranic commands always aim at elevating the soul and building a just society.

Khushu refers to a state of humility, submission, and complete focus of the heart and body during acts of worship, especially Salah (prayer). It involves being deeply aware of Allah’s presence, removing distractions, and maintaining inner calm and reverence.

Qur'an Reference:

"Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers (with Khushu)."

(Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:1-2)

(ii) The Attainment of Khushu Before, During, and After Salah

1. Before Salah:

a. Taharah (Purification):

Wudu (ablution) or Tayammum (dry ablution) if water is unavailable.

1. Clean body, clothes, and prayer area.

2. Proper dress: Covering 'awrah (mandatory parts of the body).

3. Timeliness: Praying within the prescribed time helps mentally prepare.

4. Intention (Niyyah): Sincere intention for prayer.

5. Reflection: Mentally prepare by thinking about Allah’s greatness.

2. During Salah:

Focus (concentration): Avoiding worldly thoughts.

Understanding the words: Knowing the meaning of what is recited improves focus.

Posture and stillness: Each movement is done with calm and purpose.

Avoiding distractions: Praying in a quiet, clean, and undisturbed environment.

3. After Salah:

Dhikr (remembrance): Saying SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar.

Dua (supplication): Personal supplications help strengthen connection with Allah.

Reflection on the prayer: Encourages self-improvement and spiritual growth.

1. Taharah (Wudu/Tayammum)

Wudu:

1. Washing face

2. Washing both hands to elbow

3. wiping head

4. washing feet

Tayammum: If water is not available or harmful, dust may be used to symbolically purify (strike hands on clean earth and wipe face and hands).

Essential for Salah: Salah is invalid without purification.

2. Conditions for the Acceptance (Sah) of Salah

(i) Islam: The person must be a Muslim.

(ii) Sanity: Mentally sound.

(iii) Puberty (or age of understanding).

(iv) Niyyah (intention).

(v) Taharah: Purity from major and minor impurities.

(vi) Proper dress (satr al-awrah).

(vii) Facing Qiblah.

(viii) Correct timing: Prayer must be within its fixed time.

3. Pillars (Arkan) of Salah

These are the essential parts, missing one invalidates the prayer.

1. Niyyah (Intention)

2. Takbir al-Ihram (Opening Allahu Akbar)

3. Qiyam (Standing)

4. Recitation of Al-Fatihah

5. Ruku' (Bowing)

6. Sujud (Prostration)

7. Tuma’ninah (Calmness in each position)

8. Tashahhud (Final sitting)

9. Salam (Concluding with peace)

10. Tarteeb (Correct sequences)

4. Application of Salah Based on Situations

a. Qasr & Jama' (Shortening and Combining)

Qasr: When traveling, four-rakah prayers (Dhuhr, Asr, Isha) are shortened to two.

Jama': Dhuhr and Asr, Maghrib and Isha can be combined in travel or need.

Jama' Taqdim: Combining at the time of the first prayer.

Jama' Ta'khir: Combining at the time of the second prayer.

b. Nawafil (Voluntary Prayers)

Examples:

Tahajjud (late night)

Duha (mid-morning)

Rawatib (sunnah before/after obligatory)

Istikhara, Taraweeh (in Ramadan)

Enhance khushu and spiritual development.

c. Salah During Illness

Pray standing; if not possible, then sitting, then lying on side/back.

Movements are adjusted according to capacity.

Even in hardship, maintaining prayer helps preserve khushu.

I really hope that my usrah members do their best in taking care of their ibadah, especially salah because salah is the first aml that will be ask when we are in barzakh. Without Salah, all deeds will be useless and we'll be throw to the jahannam.

Self-discipline: Controlling desires, hunger, and impulses.

God-consciousness (Taqwa): Strengthening awareness of Allah through abstention.

Empathy: Experiencing the hardship of the poor, encouraging compassion and charity.

Gratitude: Deepened appreciation for everyday blessings like food, water, and comfort.

Spiritual purification: Opportunity for repentance, prayer, and reflection.

2. Sabr (Patience and Forbearance)

Virtues:

Emotional resilience: Enduring trials with calm and composure.

Trust in Allah: Belief that hardship has divine wisdom and reward.

Moral strength: Withstanding injustice or pain without retaliation or complaint.

Steadfastness in faith: Remaining firm in worship and obedience under difficulty.

3. Takrim (Respect and Deference)

Virtues:

Dignity: Honoring the value and humanity of others, as emphasized in the Quran (17:70).

Humility: Showing deference without arrogance.

Social harmony: Fostering peaceful and respectful relationships in family and community.

Justice: Treating others fairly, especially the elderly, scholars, and parents.

4. Rahmah (Friendliness, Mercy, and Compassion)

Virtues:

Kindness: Showing gentleness in speech and action.

Mercy: Forgiving others, reflecting Allah's attribute of Ar-Rahman.

Unity: Creating bonds of affection and care in the community.

Service: Helping the weak, needy, and oppressed with a sincere heart.

Each of these values contributes to moral character (akhlaq) and aligns with the Prophetic tradition of embodying mercy, patience, and dignity in all aspects of life.

Sawm which are compulsory to all muslim is in Ramadhan. All muslims are required to fast because it is the order from our Creator. Fasting are proven by scientific view that fasting can bring benefits to human

Virtues:

Purification: Cleanses wealth and purifies the soul from greed.

Generosity: Encourages open-hearted giving and detachment from materialism.

Compassion: Cultivates care for the poor, needy, and oppressed.

Justice: Narrows the gap between the rich and poor, fostering fairness.

Barakah (Blessings): Increases blessings in wealth and life.

Social solidarity: Strengthens community ties and mutual support.

Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah)

Virtues:

Trust in Allah: Builds confidence in divine wisdom and outcomes.

Peace of heart: Reduces anxiety by surrendering to Allah’s will.

Resilience: Helps endure hardship with faith and calm.

Humility: Recognizes human limitations and divine power.

Steadfastness: Encourages continued effort without fear of failure.

Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood in Faith)

Virtues:

Unity: Fosters a strong, connected Muslim community.

Love for others: Promotes care, empathy, and mutual respect.

Forgiveness: Encourages reconciliation and overcoming disputes.

Support: Motivates helping one another in times of need.

Peace: Builds a harmonious and trusting social environment.

Not all people are blessed with property and assets. The reason why Allah told us to pay zakah every year is in order to help people in need. In our rezq, there are always other's. Zakah also teach human to not become greedy and remind them that Allah is the one who gave them rezq

1. Hajj and Umrah

Hajj (the major pilgrimage) and Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage) are acts of worship that involve physical, financial, and spiritual devotion.

Key Virtues:

Submission to Allah: Reflects full obedience to divine command for example, wearing the ihram, performing tawaf.

Unity and Equality: Pilgrims dress the same and perform rituals together, removing distinctions of wealth, race, or nationality.

Forgiveness and Renewal: The Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Whoever performs Hajj and does not commit any obscenity or wrongdoing, he will return as free from sin as the day his mother bore him” (Bukhari, Muslim).

Patience and Endurance: Pilgrimage requires physical and emotional resilience.

Gratitude: Through the hardships of travel and rituals, one grows in appreciation for Allah’s blessings.

2. Al-Tadhiyyah (Sacrifice)

This refers to the ritual sacrifice of an animal during Eid al-Adha, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.

Key Virtues:

Obedience: Emulates the devotion of Ibrahim AS in submitting to divine will.

Sincerity: The Qur’an emphasizes that it is not the meat or blood that reaches Allah, but taqwa (Quran 22:37).

Generosity and Charity: Meat is distributed to the poor, fostering compassion and communal care.

Detachment from Worldly Possessions: Sacrifice teaches not to be overly attached to material wealth.

3. Taqwa (God-consciousness)

Taqwā is the continuous awareness of Allah, guiding a person to live a life of obedience and moral integrity.

Key Virtues:

Moral Vigilance: Guides actions, speech, and thoughts toward righteousness.

Sincerity in Worship: Promotes worship not for show, but out of love and awe for Allah.

Humility: Recognizes human dependence on Allah and leads to self-restraint.

Accountability: Encourages self-reflection and personal responsibility.

Spiritual Strength: Acts as a shield against sin and increases resilience in trials.

Interconnection Between the Three

Hajj and Al-Tadhiyyah are both acts that culminate in taqwa.

Quran 22:37 (about the sacrifice) links the act directly to taqwa:

“Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety (taqwa) from you.”

The entire pilgrimage experience is a journey toward taqwa, through sacrifice, submission, and remembrance.

On our last class, finally I'm done with my responsibility to share and spread the knowledge about the virtues of all the specific ibadah in Islam. Each ibadah that Allah told us to do give human a lot of benefits.

I'm very sorry if I'm lack in teaching you, maybe my sharing is not as good as ustaz/ustazah hehe.

So here is my hope for my dearest members, if you did noticed, most of all our lesson in usrah 2 are under a topic of ibadah. The real objectives of usrah for this semester is to reveal why we must perform ibadah for our own well-being and to make sure you realise the importance of ibadah in our daily life.
