Keep calm, do not panic

  • Remove all excess water by mopping or blotting - use clean white towels for blotting. Several inches of water should be pumped out or extracted immediately.
  • Stay out of any building if it is surrounded by floodwaters.
  • Clean and disinfect everything that was touched by flood waters and throw out any such foodstuffs.
  • Clear items from atop wooden furniture and wipe off any moisture.
  • Stay away from downed power lines, and report them to the power company.

 1. Clear gutters, drains and downspouts
2. Dry proof  your house by applying coatings and other sealing materials to your walls to keep out floods.
3. Construct buildings above flood levels
4. Put up  flood barriers
5. Seal walls in basements with waterproofing compounds to avoid seepage
6. Improve Drainage
