One sunny day, there was a boy named Justin. He was feeling nervous about tomorrow because he had to give a presentation. It would be his first time speaking in front of his whole class, and he was scared that everyone would laugh at him. He practiced over and over until he could say his poem perfectly, but deep down, Justin was still nervous. His biggest fear was speaking in front of others. He was shocked to learn the presentation would last a whole minute — and he didn’t feel brave enough to talk for that long.

The next morning, he came to school early to get in some extra practice. He was representing his class in the poetry recital competition, and he wanted to be ready. A few minutes later, his teacher called him up to present. Justin’s face turned as white as cotton — he had a bad case of stage fright. But his classmates cheered him on, and that gave him a little boost of confidence.

He took a deep breath and began to recite his poem. To his surprise, the words flowed more easily than he expected. A few minutes later, he finished his poem, and the audience gave him a standing ovation. Justin smiled and let out a huge sigh of relief.

"Beep beeep!"goes the alarm clock. Today is Felix's poetry recital contest. He gets ready for the day and has his breakfast. He ate his food but his heart was pounding, he thought to himself "why am I so nervous..." He let go of the thought and quickly revised his poem. He practised hard. Felix walked his way to school. He ran as fast to his class and was just on time. His hands began to sweat, he thought nothing of it and listened to his teacher. He asked if he could go drink water and he did. he did not have the confidence to go on stage. "Felix why are you biting your nails?" said Ms Tan."Im nervous," said Felix. his contest was in 15 minutes! he knew he had to go backstage to revise. He just ran out of class to go backstage. he practised hard so that he could represent his class. He listened to his to all his opponents poems. It was his turn, he had stage fright but tried his best. He may have stuttered a few words but that didn't matter. Once he was done, he heaved a sigh of relieve. The audience gave a standing ovation. "The results are in! 3rd place we have Leila! 2nd place we have Felix!" Felix didn't really care about what the others got, he was just happy to be on the podium. His teachers clapped and smiled for him. He was so happy! It was a memorable day for Felix. It felt like winning the Olympics to him. he was cheerful the whole month. He went back home successful with his trophy.

"Beep beeep!" went the alarm clock. Today was Felix's poetry recital contest. He got ready for the day and had his breakfast. Although he had eaten, his heart was pounding. Why am I so nervous? he thought. He let the thought go and quickly revised his poem, he had practised hard for this.

Felix walked to school and ran as fast as he could to his classroom, arriving just on time. His hands began to sweat, but he tried not to think much of it and focused on listening to his teacher. After a few minutes, he asked if he could go get a drink of water. The truth was, he didn't feel confident about going on stage.

"Felix, why are you biting your nails?" asked Ms. Tan.

"I'm nervous," Felix admitted.

His contest was in just 15 minutes! He knew he had to go backstage to revise.

Without wasting another second, he dashed out of class and headed backstage. He practised hard, he wanted to represent his class well. As he waited, he listened to all his opponents perform their poems.

Finally, it was his turn.

Felix had stage fright, but he stepped forward and tried his best. He may have stuttered a few words, but that didn’t matter. When he finished, he let out a huge sigh of relief.

The audience gave him a standing ovation.

"The results are in!" announced the host.
"3rd place goes to... Leila!
2nd place... Felix!"

Felix didn’t care much about what the others got, he was just happy to be on the podium. His teachers clapped and smiled at him proudly. He was overjoyed. It was a truly memorable day for Felix. To him, it felt like winning the Olympics. He stayed cheerful the whole month.

He went back home, smiling, with his shiny trophy in hand.

Jay had a poetry recital competition coming up. He was chosen to represent his class and had been practicing really hard to memorize every word of the poem. The night before, Jay stood in front of the mirror, reciting the lines over and over, determined to get everything right.

The next morning arrived quickly. Jay got ready and headed to school. As he approached the building, nervous butterflies filled his stomach. He walked into his classroom and sat down quietly, feeling anxious about the performance.

All the students greeted the teacher, and soon she announced, “Jay will be going on stage today for the poetry recital.” Jay’s heart started racing. What if he forgot the words? What if he messed up in front of everyone?

It was almost time. The teacher called Jay to prepare himself. Even though he had practiced a lot, Jay still didn’t feel very confident.

Finally, the moment arrived. Jay stepped onto the stage. The audience clapped and cheered as he walked out, trembling slightly. The teacher handed him the microphone. The curtain opened. The spotlight was on him.

Jay took a deep breath.

Then, unexpectedly, the teacher asked him to spell the word "astronaut." Jay was startled but tried to stay calm.

He began, “A-S-T-R-O-N-A-U-T.”

The teacher smiled and said, “That isssss... He sat on his chair and greeted the teacher, Ms. Leow, as soon as she walked into the classroom. Then, Max suddenly remembered—it was the day he was supposed to go on stage and represent the class. He prayed that everyone would forget about it, as he had stage fright.

"Are you ready to go on stage?" Ms. Leow asked joyfully.
Max sighed and reluctantly walked to the hall with his peers.

Max stepped onto the stage, trembling with terror. He was practising in front of the mirror for hours to try not to stutter. His heart was beating really fast even though he was not presenting yet.

At school, he was called out from his class to prepare for his presentation. He was sweating so much that it looked like he came out from the shower. Everyone was looking at him as he slowly walked out.

Backstage, he dug through his bag to find his script. Nathan was panicking as he could not find his script. He was to scared to tell his teacher that he lost his script. He was hesitating whether to tell or not because of he told the teacher, he would get another script but get scolded. However, if he did not tell, he would forget his lines and stand on the stage like a fool. He knew that standing on the stage like a fool was not the better option so he decided to tell his teacher. As he was walking to his teacher, he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was his classmate Ethan. Ethan was holding Nathans script in his hand. " Here is your paper. You left it under your table. " " Thank you Ethan! " Nathan exclaimed. " practically saved my life out there. "

When the curtains opened, his feets were trembling and he felt like diggings a hole and hiding in it. He walked to the front of the stage and took a deep breath. After his presentation, the audience gave a standing ovation. He heaved a sigh of relief after his presentation. When the curtains closed, his teachers said he did great.

"Class, over the next few days, you will be working on a presentation. Whoever has the best one will get a prize!" my teacher, Mrs Tan, announced to the whole class. Some students were scared**,** and some of them were excited. But, as for me, I was frightened. My hands were clammy**,** and sweat trickled down my forehead.

However, I decided to work hard anyway. Every day, I burned the midnight oil with hopes of getting a prize. Then, the day finally came. It was all coming down to this day. I felt a rush of adrenaline through my veins. I was scared but excited at the same time.

I did not know if my hard work actually paid off. Then, it was my turn to go. I said all the words loudly and clearly in a pleasant tone. After I was done, I received a standing ovation from my classmates. The next day, Mrs Tan gave the results.

"I have decided the winner of the presentation. The winner is Tom!" I could not believe my ears! Tears of joy glistened in my eyes. The prize was snacks. I immediately took one and thanked my teacher profusely. I learned that hard work actually pays off. This is a presentation that I will never forget!

But still, he chose to represent.

The school bell rang; it was time to go home. He got on the bus, sat down, and started to think he would mess up the whole thing.

When he returned back to his home, he started writing his poetry and practiced hard in front of his mirror, pretending it was the audience.

Today is the poetry recital competition. It was Mark's turn to read his poetry. He nervously went up on stage. The teacher handed him the microphone. He took a deep breath and started to read his poetry.

"Ring..." David woke up. He went to eat his breakfast, brushed his teeth, and got ready for school. He went to school happily and met his friends. One of them was John. John decided to dare David to answer the hard question that Mrs. Lim would give later at school**.** David had no choice but to take the dare.

At school, David was regretting that he had accepted the dare**.** He didn't know the answer to the hard question and was scared to answer as he thought that his friends would laugh and make fun of him if he got the question wrong. So, David decided to go to the library during recess to find answers for the hard question. After recess, it was maths. Mrs. Lim came into the class**.** Mrs. Lim greeted the class, then asked the question**.** Mrs. Lim said, "Class, what is 1.8 plus 1.6?" David raised his hand.

David said, "3.4." Mrs. Lim said, "That's correct." Everybody clapped their hands, and John said, "Good job." Then David felt really proud. The lesson continued like normal**.** Then David and John were dismissed, and David went home happily.

At home, while David was resting on his sofa, he learnt that you should not be scared to answer questions and that it is fine even if you get a question wrong.

Sunlight streamed through the windows, casting golden stripes across the classroom floor. James sat cross-legged at the back, blinking at the brightness, his fingers fidgeting with a loose thread on his sleeve.

At the front, Miss Jennifer’s voice rang out, cheerful and animated.
“This year’s poetry recital is just around the corner,” she said, her eyes sweeping the room like a radar. “We need someone brave to represent our class!”

Hands shot into the air like fireworks.

James stared at his shoes.

Miss Jennifer paused, tapping her chin. “Hmm… who should it be?”

James held his breath. Maybe if he sat still enough, he’d disappear.

Then—
“James! You’ll do it.”

His head jerked up. “Me?” he croaked.

His classmates turned to look at him. James sat frozen, his mouth slightly open, the word no tangled on his tongue.

The sky had turned a soft orange by the time James trudged home. His backpack hung heavily off one shoulder. Each step echoed with dread.

Once inside, he threw his bag aside, grabbed a crumpled paper from his desk, and began to rehearse.

“Roses are… red…” he mumbled, pacing his room.
“Violets are—ugh.”

He flopped onto his bed, covering his face with the paper.
“What’s the point?” he whispered.

A warm, chocolatey scent drifted into the room. James peeked out from under the paper.

His mother stood at the doorway, holding a plate of cookies that still steamed from the oven.
“Smells like something worth practicing for,” she said, raising an eyebrow.

James sat up, eyes locked on the cookies.
“Freshly baked?” he asked.

She nodded. “And there’s more where that came from.”

His fingers curled around the poem again.
“Okay,” he said with a grin, “but I want extra chocolate chips.”

The day of the recital arrived.

The school stage looked enormous. James stood in the wings, gripping his paper so tightly it was crumpled at the edges.

His feet shuffled forward.
Thump... thump... thump...
Each step echoed louder than the last.

Under the stage lights, sweat beaded on his forehead.
Drip... drip... drip...
His hands trembled like leaves in the wind.

He looked out. Dozens of faces stared back.

For a heartbeat, the words vanished from his mind.

Then he took a breath.

His voice cracked on the first line. But he kept going. Word by word, he found his rhythm. His voice grew steady, clear. By the final line, silence filled the hall.

A moment passed—then came the applause. First a few claps. Then more. Then everyone stood.

James blinked, stunned. A grin crept across his face.

That evening, back home, James sank into a chair at the kitchen table, a cookie halfway to his mouth.

“You did amazing,” his mother said, setting down another tray.

He nodded, his mouth full of warm, gooey chocolate.

Second place never tasted so sweet.

It was a sunny morning. “RINGGG!” the school bell rang. Tom, a student at East Spring, went to English class. He was shocked to find all his classmates sitting down. He was about to take out his notebook when his classmate said, “Bro, did you know the presentation is tomorrow?”

Tom replied worried, “What are you talking about? The presentation is next week! I will ask the teacher.” Tom said, raising his hand politely.

His classmate then replied, “If you say so…”

“Teacher!” Tom said.

“Yes, Tom?” the teacher replied.

“When is our presentation?” Tom said with a worried look.

The teacher then replied, “Oh, Tom, it’s your presentation. What do you mean our?” She giggled softly.

With fear in his eyes, he could not reply to the teacher! When it was time to go home, he ran as fast as The Flash so he would not get embarrassed. Then, a teacher stopped him and said, “Are you Tom?”

Tom nodded his head up and down over and over again. She then gave him a small note to read. “Read it, it’s for your presentation!” Off she went onto bus 293.

He then took bus 29 and went home.

At home, Tom looked at himself in the mirror, taking out the paper the teacher gave him. He read it to himself over and over again, until it was the next day.

It was time for him to read his poetry to the whole school. Did he ever mention he had stage fright? He did not have the confidence to go on stage at first.

Luckily, he practiced hard and had a bit of confidence to go on stage. When he was finished with his poetry, the audience gave him a standing ovation.

I heaved out a sigh of relief. I am so glad that it is finally over! It all started two days ago on a normal day at school...

"I am here to announce that in two days, will will be taking a speech in front of the school," our form teacher , Mrs Lian announced. Curious murmurs filled the classroom. I was as pale as a sheet. Sweat dribbled down my forehead. I hate being on stage. My teacher gave me a script, followed by the sound of a bell, signalling that school was over..

I went home, obsessing over the thought that i needed to be on stage. I did not let it get to me. I had to try. I spent countless hours practicing to say the script over and over again. Even saying it in front of my parents made me stammer. I thought I was done for but little did I know that it would not be so bad after all!

Two days went past in a flash. Today was the day of my so called "nightmare." It was my turn to speak. My teacher wished me good luck and off I went, standing in front of hundreds of students, some from different levels. I was so scared but then, memories of my hard work and all the practice I had went through started surging like speeding arrows towards me causing me to start reading the speech bravely and confidently. Before I knew it, the speech had already been fully read! Yes, you heard it right. No stammering and I did not look like someone whose blood just got drained! Not only was I happy it was over, I was so proud of myself. From that day onwards, I learnt not to doubt myself when faced with challenges, but instead overcome it. This truly was a learning experience.

I raised my hand because I thought my poetry skills were good and since no one raised their hand up I was chosen .

When I get back home , I looked at the worksheet of poetry requirements and my mouth dropped in horror. The poem must be about winter but I have never seen snow before Also the competion is next week so there is only one way . every day, after I finish my homework I will spend hours infront of the mirror reciting my poem . before I knew it the day of the competion came .my body felt numb from the fear of the blood-curling stage and that's how I came onto stage in front of the whole school I took a deep breath ,as deep as my lungs could manage.when I recited, I felts my paper and read on when I was done , I acullaly got a standind ovation .

I learned that is you overcome your fears ,you will be able to learn something new.

One delightful morning, I woke up so peacefully and made breakfast**. After I ate my hot dog, I changed into my school uniform. Suddenly, I spotted something in my eye. "Right THERE!" I shouted. My friend wanted to surprise me, but I just shrugged and we walked together. "What's up, buddy?" I **said. "Oh, nothing," she said and ran to school.

"SIT DOWN, GIRLS, YOU ALMOST MISSED IT! Ok, class, today we will have a singing contest." Points to me and my bestie shocked. "You will SING NOW!" I ran to the bathroom and sang the song and sang the last lyrics, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Then I went back and saw that they were not in the class. I looked disappointed and ran to the hall. All the lights were pointing at me while I was walking. I snatched the microphone and sang the song. Everyone threw flowers on me. Then, for the last song, I shouted like I dreamed it, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

I was so happy and got a prize. I fainted on the spot and woke up in a hospital, and I found out I had been in a coma for 5 years, and it was already 2025. I was so surprised.

One bright and sunny morning, a boy named Nathan was at home. He was extremely nervous to go to school because he had a presentation. He was practicing in front of the mirror for hours, trying not to stutter. His heart was beating really fast, even though he wasn’t presenting yet.

At school, he was called out of his class to prepare for his presentation. He was sweating so much it looked like he had just stepped out of the shower. Everyone was looking at him as he slowly walked out.

Backstage, he dug through his bag to find his script. Nathan was panicking because he couldn’t find it. He was too scared to tell his teacher that he had lost his script. He hesitated, wondering whether to tell her or not. If he told the teacher, he might get another script but also get scolded. However, if he didn’t tell her, he would forget his lines and freeze on stage. He knew that freezing on stage was not an option, so he decided to tell his teacher.

As he was walking toward her, he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was his classmate Ethan. Ethan was holding Nathan’s script in his hand.
"Here is your paper. You left it under your table."
"Thank you, Ethan!" Nathan exclaimed. "You practically saved my life out there."

When the curtains opened, his legs were trembling, and he felt like digging a hole to hide in. He walked to the front of the stage and took a deep breath. After his presentation, the audience gave a standing ovation. He heaved a sigh of relief as the curtains closed. His teacher smiled and said he did a great job

One bright day, there was a boy named Justin. He was feeling anxious about tomorrow because he had to give a presentation. It would be his first time speaking in front of his entire class, and he was terrified that everyone would laugh at him. He practiced repeatedly until he could recite his poem flawlessly, but deep down, Justin was still uneasy. His biggest fear was public speaking. He was stunned to learn the presentation would last a whole minute — and he didn’t feel confident enough to talk for that long.

The next morning, he arrived at school early to get in some extra practice. He was representing his class in the poetry recital competition, and he wanted to be well-prepared. A few minutes later, his teacher called him up to present. Justin’s face turned as white as snow — he had a serious case of stage fright. But his classmates encouraged him, and that gave him a little boost of courage.

He took a deep breath and began to recite his poem. To his surprise, the words flowed more smoothly than he expected. A few minutes later, he finished his poem, and the audience gave him a roaring standing ovation. Justin smiled and let out a huge sigh of relief.

We practiced hard all day and night and still did not have the confidence. We even practiced in front of our class! The class was not expecting us to be representatives as we were the "quiet kids"But now, everyone has a voice to start and a harmony to end. When it was my turn,I stuttered as I had stage fright."Fix the world and make it right, till darkness finally meets the night, where we go not where we sleep. Is the darkness alright."with more stuff. That was the poem.I practiced HARD as I wanted to stop thinking about it. "Next up,Jasmine! With her poem called darkness!"The teacher announced .I went on stage with a proud smile.I used hand movements to make it expressive,to make it POP! "Fix the world and make it right, till darkness finally meets the light.Where we go not where we sleep. It's the darkness?Fix the lies that once were told.Where we go is never forgotten by the light.Use dark when it's light till darkness finally meets the light."I said with expressions.

Grey light slipped through the curtain as Ben blinked awake. The air was cool and smelled of rain. "Rise and shine!" his mother called from outside his bedroom. He brushed his teeth, hair sticking up in every direction, then ate a piece of toast in silence while his mother packed his snack. Bag slung over his shoulder, Ben stepped into the damp morning. The bus arrived just as he reached the bus stop. He climbed on and took his usual seat by the window.

By the time Ben reached school, the halls buzzed with the usual morning bell. As he slid into his seat, his teacher clapped her hands for attention. "Everyone," she said with a big smile. "Ben will be representing our class this Friday for the poetry recital competition!" A few students clapped. Ben sank a little in his chair. His stomach turned. He had not even known there was a competition 一 and he definitely was not ready to stand in front of a crowd.

After school, Ben trudged home without saying much. Once inside, he skipped dinner and headed straight to his room. Dropping his bag with a thud, he stood in front of the mirror. For a while, he just stared at his reflection 一 quiet, unsure. Then, almost in a whisper, he spoke. "You can do this... maybe." He hesitated, then opened his notebook and began to read aloud, voice shaky but determined to try.

On Friday at noon, Ben stood backstage with the other students, his palms sweaty and heart racing. When their names were called, they walked out to a burst of applause. The lights felt hot. The presenter stepped forward, grinning. "Whoever recites their poem the fastest and clearest wins." she announced. One by one, the students took their turns. When it was Ben's, he took a deep breath, stepped up and let the words fly. No stumbles. No pauses. Just rhythm. When he finished, the crowd cheered. Ben blinked in surprise 一 he had won.

I heaved out a sigh of relief. I am so glad that it is finally over! It all started two days ago on a normal day at school...

"I am here to announce that in two days, we will be delivering a speech in front of the school," our form teacher, Mrs. Lian, announced. Curious murmurs filled the classroom. I was as pale as a sheet. Sweat dribbled down my forehead. I hate being on stage. My teacher gave me a script, followed by the sound of a bell, signalling that school was over**.**

I went home, obsessing over the thought that I needed to be on stage. I did not let it get to me. I had to try. I spent countless hours practicing the script over and over again. Even saying it in front of my parents made me stammer. I thought I was done for**,** but little did I know that it would not be so bad after all!

Two days went by in a flash. Today was the day of my so-called "nightmare." It was my turn to speak. My teacher wished me good luck and off I went, standing in front of hundreds of students, some from different levels. I was so scared**,** but then, memories of my hard work and all the practice I had gone through started surging like speeding arrows towards me**,** causing me to start reading the speech bravely and confidently. Before I knew it, the speech had already been fully read! Yes, you heard it right. No stammering**,** and I did not look like someone whose blood had just been drained! Not only was I happy it was over, I was so proud of myself. From that day onwards, I learned not to doubt myself when faced with challenges, but instead to overcome them. This truly was a learning experience.

"Ring!" The school bell had rung. Everyone was excited for recess. Ms. Adira, our form and English teacher, told me to stay back for a while with my best friend.

"Can I see Bella and Jasmine?" Ms. Adira said. Our classmates ran off to recess as they were hungry.

"Both of you have been chosen to represent our class for the annual poetry recital competition!" our teacher exclaimed. I was scared, and so was Bella.

We practiced hard all day and night, and still did not have the confidence. We even practiced in front of our class! The class was not expecting us to be representatives, as we were the "quiet kids." But now, everyone has a voice to start and a harmony to end. When it was my turn, I stuttered as I had stage fright.
"Fix the world and make it right, till darkness finally meets the night, where we go not where we sleep. Is the darkness alright?" with more stuff. That was the poem. I practiced hard as I wanted to stop thinking about it.

The day had come. Today was the day of the poetry recital competition. The crowd was wild! Everyone wanted to listen to the poems that we made.

"Next up, Jasmine! With her poem called Darkness!" the teacher announced. I went on stage with a proud smile. I used hand movements to make it expressive, to make it pop!

"Fix the world and make it right, till darkness finally meets the light. Where we go not where we sleep. It's the darkness? Fix the lies that once were told. Where we go is never forgotten by the light. Use dark when it's light till darkness finally meets the light." I said with expressions.

The crowd gave a standing ovation to me. Bella was proud of me. I gave a sigh of relief. In happiness, I won! I learnt that we should not give up when there are tough times.

Grey morning light filtered through the thin curtains, painting the room in soft silver. Ben blinked awake, the cool air carrying the faint smell of rain from the night before.
“Rise and shine!” his mother’s voice called warmly from beyond his bedroom door. He dragged himself out of bed, hair sticking up in wild directions, and brushed his teeth, the minty taste sharp against his sleepy tongue. In the kitchen, he crunched silently on a slice of toast while his mother bustled about, packing his snack with quick, practiced movements.

Bag slung over his shoulder, Ben stepped into the damp morning; the pavement glistened, and the air clung coolly to his skin. The bus arrived just as he reached the stop, brakes squealing, and he slipped into his usual seat by the window, watching raindrops chase each other across the glass.

By the time he reached school, the corridors were alive with chatter, lockers slamming and footsteps echoing. As Ben slid into his classroom seat, his teacher clapped her hands for attention.
“Everyone,” she said with a bright smile, “Ben will be representing our class this Friday for the poetry recital competition!”
A few students clapped politely. Ben’s stomach tightened; his shoulders sank. He hadn’t even known there was a competition — and the thought of standing in front of a crowd made his throat dry.

After school, he trudged home, barely speaking. Inside, he skipped dinner and went straight to his room. His bag hit the floor with a heavy thud. For a long moment, he stood before the mirror, staring at the unsure boy reflected back at him.
“You can do this... maybe,” he whispered, the words shaky in the quiet.
He hesitated, then opened his notebook and began to read aloud. His voice trembled at first, but with each line, it grew steadier, his determination taking root.

Friday came quickly. At noon, Ben waited backstage, palms slick and heart hammering. The hum of the audience seeped through the curtains; the stage lights spilled in hot streaks across the floor.
When the presenter announced the rules — “Whoever recites their poem the fastest and clearest wins” — the room buzzed with anticipation. One by one, the contestants performed, their voices sharp and quick.

When it was his turn, Ben stepped forward, took a deep breath, and let the words pour out. They came smooth, clear, and sure — no stumbles, no awkward pauses, just the steady rhythm of his voice. When he finished, the applause roared.

Ben blinked, stunned. He had won.
