Subject should not be exposed to harmful or dangerous procedures.
If an investigation requires some deception, the researcher must explain and correct any misunderstanding as soon as possible.
(when working with children, assent is required from the parents)
Subject's rights to privacy (confidentiality) should never be violated.
Harmful or painful procedures imposed upon animals must be thoroughly justified in terms of the knowledge to be gained from the study. Furthermore, laboratory animals are entitled to decent living conditions.
