He began learning the guitar after playing the video game 'Guitar Hero.' In 2010, he auditioned for the American rock band 'Crown the Empire' but was rejected.

At the age of 16, he created his first mix-tape titled 'Young and After Them Riches' using the digital audio editor 'Audacity'. He shared it with some of his schoolmates at the Grapevine High School and was voted "Most Likely to Become Famous" by them as a senior in school. Malone has worked with many prominent rappers including Young Thug, Kanye West, and 50 Cent.

In the song he says -"My momma called, "seen you on TV, son" Said shit done changed ever since we was on"- Meaning that their lives changed once Malone 'made it'.

He then says -I dreamed it all ever since I was young

They said I wouldn't be nothing

Now they always say, "Congratulations"- Every kid wants to be famous when their younger. Almost no one makes it, so it makes sense that people would tell you that your not going to make it. But Malone 'made it', He showed everyone that he had the potential to do things that others couldn't.

-Worked so hard, forgot how to vacation (ooh)- He worked so hard to prove to people that he can make it, he forgot how it feels to relax, to sit down and do... nothing.

-They ain't never had the dedication (uh, uh, ayy)- What he means by this verse is, he only made it because he was dedicated. Without that dedicated mindset, he never would have made it, he just would have been a kid with a dream.

Right now I have a job, although its not much, its better then sitting at home playing games all day. I feel way more responsible when I buy my own things.

Once I 'make it', people that I never spoke to before, their going to try to talk to me like they knew me. People that I 'cut off', their going to try and talk to me like noting was wrong between us.
