(S)pecific: I hope to do well in Math. I want to be able to say I excelled, listened well, took notes, and studied hard. In the unfortunate case I do not do well, I want to at least be able to say I did my best and tried my hardest. I also hope to learn a lot in Math. Apart from hopefully doing well, I hope that the knowledge Math provides me with can/will be used in situations I need them in. In addition to this, I hope to use Math for my future. I am an aspiring cardiothoracic surgeon who wants to start my own medical trial for a rare incurable disease ( Crohn’s Disease/IBD ) which is what I got diagnosed with this summer. I hope to use Math in the medical trial for things like dosage.

(M)easurable: Each test/assessment can be recorded on a line chart. Once you see the line chart go down, that is something you need to improve on. If you see it go up, that is something you have studied well/did well in. Another option is using the Progress Report Form. Similar to the line chart, it shows your Score/HPS which makes it easier to compute your mark in Math since it is in a Google Excel file.

(A)ttainable: Taking notes has definitely helped me in the past, and I believe it will help me again. Notes for me are just the important/essential parts and I can study them if I ever get confused. This brings me to my second plan; I plan on studying very well. I will definitely manage my time better ( when I say this, I mean not using my phone so much or other things that can distract me ) so I can study using my textbook/notes.

(R)elevant: These goals are more important than ever to me because I know that colleges start looking at your grades in high school. I want to get into a good medical school and become the best doctor I can be, so I need to make it my mission to follow the said goals and do well in Math, as well as all my other subjects.

(T)ime-Bound: I actually followed the SMART goals method last year for English and Math. It took me half of the 2nd term to achieve the goals, so that was around 3-4 months. 3-4 months is a bit long, so my time frame is 2-3 months now.

Since this is the first term, I can only use the first term as a basis; in all honesty, I believe I did very well in Math and worked very hard. I spent a lot of time studying for tests and was often the person my group mates would come to if in need for help with the Photo Outputs. I believe that here is a difference between doing well, and working to do well; I can confidently state I worked very hard to achieve my grade in Math; I spent countless hours spent studying and practicing for outputs, oral exams, entry tickets, exit tickets, and more; I personally think this shows my dedication to the subject. Now, here are my comments on each goal I stated in the SMART goals.

S: I state here that I hope to do well and use my knowledge in Math; as stated before, I can confidently state I worked hard for my above average Math grade. I personally believe I have not used the topics we've learned yet, but I know Math isn't just about using the specific topic; it engages you to learn methods and ways of doing things, so maybe not knowingly, I have actually used the methods and ways.

M: I followed the PRF in computing for my grades. I was very lenient in knowing my grades after every test.

A: I also took notes in Math and was able to manage my time; for my notes, I reviewed them each time before an entry/exit ticket and before an oral exam. As for managing my time, I was able to focus on my mental health, while still focusing on my Math grade.

R: I cannot read into the future, so I do not know if colleges are already looking at me, but I am still striving to do my best.

T: I can confidently state I did indeed follow the SMART goals for the first term.

I found the lesson of T1 Module 3 to be the most difficult; hence, I picked Photo Output 3 as the most challenging task for me.

The task was difficult for me because I felt that in Rational Exponents there were lots of things to memorize, such as methods, laws of exponents, etc. For this reason, I had a hard time solving the Photo Output 3; I constantly had to keep looking back at the provided slide. It took me around an hour to solve my share in the Photo Output.

Two ways wherein I was able to deal with this challenging task was to go back to the provided slides, then practice answering sample questions. This helped me learn and memorize the methods and ways of solving needed. The other way I was able to deal with this challenging task was to ask help from a friend; typically I am shy in asking for help because I may seem "needy" or dumb, but I knew my friend would understand and help, since I trust them; we spent time in a voice call practicing items and memorizing the methods of solving; later on, I was able to finally understand the lesson and received all perfect scores in the entry ticket, photo output and exit ticket.

I had a misconception on how to remove the negative symbol in the denominator for Radical Operations. In all my time for T1 Module 4, I never saw a negative symbol in the denominator; the only time I ever saw it was in Photo Output 4.2 and I was wondering how to get rid of it.

I knew that my answer had to be wrong, since I had finished solving and looked at the answer for the given question; there was no negative symbol in the denominator and it had gone to the numerator. I figured out how to fix this by rewatching the Entry Ticket and reviewing the provided slides; with this, I was able to learn that you need to multiply the numerator and denominator by -1/-1. With this, in the given situation that the denominator is negative, and the numerator is positive, it will then switch the negative to positive and positive to negative.

I found Photo Output 4.2 to be my best work for this term. I feel as though this is my best work because I spent a lot of time and effort into going into detail with each step and redid my work 5 times to perfect it; I also studied the provided slides and entry ticket for around 1 hour and practiced answering questions I found online. With this, I can confidently state that I had spent a lot of time studying for this task and also got a perfect score in it; I also added this task because I got the comment "Very good!" in the edited file by my teacher, Ms Litargo; I had never received this comment in any edited file, and felt very proud to receive it.

The task that shows evidence to my contribution for my group would be Photo Output 5. There are 6 things to answer for that Output, and I had decided to let myself answer 2, then have my friend answer 2, while only giving my other group mates 1. Unfortunately, those who I gave 1 task were unable to complete their requirements, due to doing it too late to the point where I couldn't contact them, and because they "didn't know how to do it." I then took the initiative in answering their given tasks, resulting in me doing 4 tasks and my friend doing 2. I believe this shows my true leadership and contribution to my group.
