Rukun Iman refers to the six fundamental beliefs that every Muslim must hold. These pillars form the foundation of Islamic faith and serve as a guide for a believer’s understanding of life, existence, and the afterlife.

1. Belief in Allah (Iman kepada Allah)

Muslims believe in the absolute oneness of Allah (Tawhid). He is the Creator, the Sustainer, and the only one worthy of worship. Allah has no partners, children, or equals. His attributes are perfect, and He has complete knowledge, power, and control over everything in the universe.

2. Belief in Angels (Iman kepada Malaikat)

Angels are created by Allah from light and serve as His obedient servants. They have no free will and carry out specific tasks assigned to them. Some well-known angels include:

Jibril (Gabriel) – The angel who delivered Allah’s revelations to the prophets.

Mikail (Michael) – The angel responsible for providing sustenance, such as rain and crops.

Israfil – The angel who will blow the trumpet to signal the Day of Judgment.

Munkar and Nakir – The angels who question souls in the grave.

3. Belief in the Holy Books (Iman kepada Kitab-kitab Allah)

Allah has revealed divine scriptures to guide humanity. These books include:

Tawrat (Torah) – Given to Prophet Musa (Moses).

Zabur (Psalms) – Given to Prophet Dawud (David).

Injil (Gospel) – Given to Prophet Isa (Jesus).

Al-Quran – The final revelation given to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which remains unchanged and serves as the ultimate guidance for all of humanity.

In week 4 we continued to where we left of last time.which is:

4. Belief in the Prophets (Iman kepada Rasul-rasul Allah)

Allah sent prophets to guide people towards righteousness. Muslims believe in all the prophets from Adam to Muhammad, peace be upon them. The last and final prophet is Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who was sent as a mercy to all of mankind. He conveyed the teachings of Islam and completed the message of previous prophets.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment (Iman kepada Hari Kiamat)

Muslims believe that life in this world is temporary and that everyone will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment. On this day, all individuals will be held accountable for their actions. The righteous will be rewarded with Paradise (Jannah), while those who reject faith and commit evil will face punishment in Hell (Jahannam). This belief encourages Muslims to live a life of piety, justice, and kindness.

6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qada’ and Qadar) (Iman kepada Qada’ dan Qadar)

Everything that happens in the universe is according to Allah’s divine will and knowledge. Muslims believe that both good and bad events occur with Allah’s permission, but humans still have free will to make choices. This belief teaches patience, trust in Allah’s wisdom, and reliance on His plan, especially during difficult times.

The Six Pillars of Faith are essential for every Muslim to understand and believe in. They provide a strong spiritual foundation and shape a believer’s outlook on life, guiding them toward righteousness, patience, and submission to Allah’s will. By holding firm to these beliefs, a Muslim can strengthen their faith and strive for success in both this world and the Hereafter.

Week 5-7( Rukun Islam)

Rukun Islam refers to the five fundamental acts of worship that every Muslim must follow. These pillars serve as the foundation of a Muslim’s faith and practice, guiding them in their spiritual and daily lives.

1. Shahada (Declaration of Faith)

The Shahada is the testimony that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His messenger. This declaration is the core of Islam and signifies complete submission to Allah. By sincerely reciting and believing in the Shahada, a person enters the fold of Islam.

"Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasul Allah."

("I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.")

2. Salah (Prayer)

Muslims are required to perform five daily prayers at specific times:

Fajr (pre-dawn)

Dhuhr (midday)

Asr (afternoon)

Maghrib (sunset)

Isha (night)

Salah is a direct connection between a Muslim and Allah. It involves physical actions and recitation of Quranic verses, reminding believers to stay mindful of their Creator and seek His guidance.

3. Zakat (Charity)

Zakat is a form of compulsory charity that requires Muslims to give 2.5% of their savings each year to help the poor and needy. It purifies wealth, promotes social justice, and reduces economic inequality. Giving in charity is an important act of worship and demonstrates kindness, generosity, and care for others.

4. Sawm (Fasting in Ramadan)

Muslims fast during the Islamic month of Ramadan, abstaining from food, drink, and sinful behavior from dawn until sunset. Fasting teaches self-discipline, gratitude, and empathy for those who are less fortunate. It is a time for spiritual reflection, increased prayer, and seeking forgiveness from Allah. The fast is broken at sunset with the meal called Iftar, and Muslims wake up early for Suhoor (pre-dawn meal).

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca)

Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca that every financially and physically capable Muslim must perform at least once in their lifetime. It takes place during the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah and involves a series of sacred rituals, including:

Tawaf (circumambulating the Kaaba).

Sa’i (walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah).

Wuquf at Arafah (standing in prayer at Mount Arafah).

Throwing stones at the Jamarat (symbolizing the rejection of evil).

Hajj is a powerful act of worship that signifies unity, humility, and devotion to Allah. It reminds Muslims of the equality of all believers, as everyone wears simple white garments (Ihram), showing that in the eyes of Allah, all humans are equal.

The Five Pillars of Islam are essential for every Muslim to follow. They shape a believer’s relationship with Allah and society, guiding them to live a life of faith, discipline, and righteousness. By upholding these pillars, a Muslim strengthens their faith and ensures a balanced life in both this world and the Hereafter.

In the first session, we start with fun ice breaking and ta‘āruf activities to get to know each other better. Then, we explore how acts of worship (ʿibādah) can help us develop positive values by setting the right intention (niyyah), doing the right practices (ñamal), and internalising good virtues (iḥsān). Together, we discuss these values and suggest simple strategies to improve our worship, using tools like pen and paper, a translated copy of Sharḥ Al-Arbaʿīn Al-Nawawiyyah, and our smartphones or laptops to help us.

We explore the concept of khushūʿ and how to attain it before, during, and after ṣalāh, using Sūrah Al-Mu’minūn (23:1–11) as the main reference. This surah highlights the qualities of true believers, beginning with those who perform their prayers with full humility and focus, and continue to live with discipline, sincerity, and trustworthiness. The session includes Qur’anic recitation, group discussion, and sharing reflections, supported by learning tools such as video clips from scholars, reading materials, and digital devices for further engagement.

In week 4, we explore the virtues that can be nurtured through ṣalāh performed with khushūʿ, including al-ṭāʿah (submission and loyalty to Allah), al-jihād (struggle in the path of Allah), muḥāsabah (self-reflection), ʿiffah (modesty and self-restraint), and tawaḍḍuʿ (humility). These values strengthen not only the spiritual quality of our ṣalāh but also shape our character and daily conduct.
