With my experience as a paraprofessional I have learned the importance of using picture prompts, drawings, pictures, etc… these make it easy for the student to visualize what I am trying to tell them when they may struggle to communicate. So in the event a lesson is being taught, and a student may struggle to put a word to an object or vice versa I can use the pictures to help guide the student. This helps with communication, being able to compare and contrast, and so many other aspects :)

Learning how one processes information best is crucial for ultimately everyone. When we understand what works for us and what doesn't, it give us room to concentrate better and focus on the bigger picture. Moreover, our way of thinking and retaining information can look very different from that of our neighbor. What works for them may not work for us, which can often more than likely, leave us confused and may require us to start all over again. Understanding how one's own brain works can help us create strategical plans that allows us to reach goals or come to an understanding of a concept. This gives us the ability to provide information for other, but also express how we came up with that answer or understanding. By doing so, it also helps us practice that form of learning. In conclusion, it helps us move outwardly and forward, rather than remaining puzzled because we can't seem to understand certain concepts.

I have considered a survey for my first year that I would like all my students to take. I would include questions based on their personal preferences and what they feel is the best learning environment for them. Not all students have access to wifi or any kind of internet at home, therefore online videos and activities that are assigned for homework may be and issue. There are always alternatives and an endless amount of imagination and creativity that I can incorporate into my classroom.

As I stated in my previous entry, I plan to create a fun, interactive survey for all my students to take when they begin the year. It will include questions and ideas that each student can share their preferences or concerns based on how they learn the best. I will take the answers from each individual, acknowledge and consider what I can do as a teacher to provide them with the learning environment that suits them all.

It's very important as educators to know and understand how our student's minds works. For one student, they might learn better reading the material straight from the book and doing a worksheet. For another, they might learn better with an activity based off the book. It's all about inclusivity and getting to better help them achieve their academic (or personal) goals.
