Not the sort of "protest" the riots in Dublin over the weekend were. Not racist, terrorizing, looting, commiting arson kind of "protest"

Open your mouth is about true protest. Right protest. Protest for what we believe in and what we want. Protesting, striving, fighting for justice.

That people need to be more expressive, & not letting other people tell you what you can or can not do

I think the blurb represents a character or characters who learn these lessons the hard way

And how different people deal with these subjects and healing and cope

Be it from bigotry bullying social pressure mental health or other reasons

They meet other individuals struggling in their own ways and become fast friends. Throughout the course of the play the open up and help each other rise above their difficulties

Jack: No one is interested in helping the homeless.

Mick: What are you talking about Jack? We have a moral responsibility to help people less fortunate than ourselves.

Jack: why should we? I work hard for my money, so why should I give it away to people that cannot be bothered to work for a living? !

Mick: Well you see that is where you are wrong! So many of these people would only love to get a job. However, without a home this is almost impossible ! We need to work harder to try and help everyone that is homeless. This is the only hope to bring about change.

Jack: I never thought of it like that. I guess it is really, really hard to be successful at work if you don't have the security of your own home.

Willow: Hi Grandad. How are you today?

Grandad: I am perfectly fine, thank you for asking Willow.

Willow: I was hoping I could go and get your shopping today. Is that OK? Do you have a list?

Grandad. Willow, I' ve told you before that I do not need any help! I am very independent. Thank you !

Willow : I ust want to help you Grandad.

Grandad. Well, I don't need your help.

Willow: maybe I could get the wheelchair from Grannies room? We could take it to put the shopping on . Then, if you feel tired, you can always have a rest!!

Grandad: ok love. That is a good idea.

Willow: you're the best grandad.

Mark - "Do what?"

Carol - "Us. I don't think I can do us."

Mark - "What do you mean you can't do us??"

Carol - "It's just - I don't feel loved anymore"

Mark - "What do you mean? You know I love you"

Carol - "Well then show it."

Mark - "Fine. Just leave me like everybody does. All women are the same anyway"

Carol - "Maybe it's not the women that are the problem, mark"

Character A decides to dedicate their life to becoming a therapist to help others get through their hard times

I feel bad sick that I can’t love her the same way she loves me but I can’t go on like this. Lying about love that isn’t there and isn’t being reserved both ways

I like to believe I’m saving her from being hurt by telling her now before it’s to late

She needs to be loved by someone better then me

Susan : “I’ve had enough of this”

Marge: “Well I’ve had enough of hearing you talk about this! How many times do I have to tell you - nobody cares about showing your ‘good morals’. It’s not cool. ”

Susan : “I don’t care. I don’t understand why people are rude. Why are they rude? Why don’t they care about others? Why do they watch with judgement? Why do they smile then stick a knife in their back? Why, just why?”

You have to be thin, but not too thin. And you can never say you want to be thin. You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin. You have to have money, but you can't ask for money because that's crass. You have to be a boss, but you can't be mean. You have to lead, but you can't squash other people's ideas. You're supposed to love being a mother, but don't talk about your kids all the damn time. You have to be a career woman but also always be looking out for other people.

You have to answer for men's bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you're accused of complaining. You're supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you're supposed to be a part of the sisterhood.

But always stand out and always be grateful. But never forget that the system is rigged. So find a way to acknowledge that but also always be grateful.

You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line. It's too hard! It's too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.

I'm just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us. And if all of that is also true for a doll just representing women, then I don't even know.

I think the fast paced changing between solo monologue to group protest is interesting

Why do they never help, why go out of your way to hinder when it’s easier to help.

Her stomach is overflowing with butterflies too.

Pick up your courage I’m sure you’ll find luck.

these butterflies have better things to be doing. Than stuck inside your gullet.

share your butterflies with each other. Let them fly free. Let them Dance in the breeze. A cloud of pink and blue, just relax,  let them surround you.
